This brilliant $8 kitchen tool instantly fixed my closet's storage problem — and it’s so clever

If there’s one area in my home that I struggle with keeping neat and organized, it’s my closet. And despite my best efforts to keep things neatly stacked, it inevitably becomes a catch-all area for clothes, shoes, handbags, and various other ad hoc items.

Besides knowing how to declutter my closet like a pro, I’m always on the lookout for clever organizing tools that can instantly help with my never-ending storage crisis.

That’s when I stumbled across this brilliant hack on Pinterest about repurposing this common kitchen cabinet tool. It turns out my simple pot lid extendable holder can do so much more than just organize pot lids. In fact, it’s probably the smartest organizing hack I’ve tried yet, and it fixed one of my biggest storage issues.

Unlike stacked piles of folded clothes, I often found it a nightmare to store my purses/handbags neatly upright. They'd inevitably topple over and create a messy pile, or simply take up valuable space on my compact shelves.

Since the pot lid holder is designed to prevent lids from toppling into one another, I decided to see if this would work to tackle my bag collection.

How I used a pot lid rack to organize my closet

With that in mind, I grabbed my pot lid holder from the kitchen and installed it in my closet. I also took the opportunity to get rid of these certain things in my closet to buy me more room.

Next, I positioned my purse collection in the pot lid holder's dividers, adjusting the spacing to fit their varying widths. I was impressed at how they were held properly and didn’t collapse into one another.

I also liked the fact that I could make it more secure by simply adjusting the rack. Job done in literally 10 seconds. Impressive! What’s more, its stainless steel finish makes it look contemporary for any room — disguising its original purpose so it doesn't look specifically designed for… pot lids.

Granted, not all bags fit perfectly and I did need to be selective. Still at just $8, this multipurpose kitchen tool is a great hack when you’re after a quick storage solution.

These are designed to divide your shelves into zones and keep purses and bags tidy in their rightful place. Plus, these make it much easier to see everything at a glance. Just check the size is suitable for your closet shelf, and you can customize to your preference.
