New York (NY) - Immediately before the Christmas holiday, XM Radio settled a lawsuit brought forth by Warner Music Group over XM’s portable digital recorder.
Warner filed the lawsuit because it claims the XM Pioneer Inno device, which allows users to record any song broadcast over the airwaves with the push of the button, breaks broadcast copyright standards.
Terms of the settlement deal were not disclosed, though the two companies confirmed that the agreement will cover all future devices with similar copying abilities.
Less than a week prior, XM also struck a similar deal with Universal Music, which had also filed suit against the satellite radio provider.
