Happy 10th Birthday, PlayStation 2
You're a classic, PS2.
Sony has always boasted that its PlayStation 2 had a 10-year lifespan. This was a bold statement when consoles typically hang around for five years before fading into obsolesce.
The PlayStation 2 hit North American stores in October of 2000.
A decade later, the PlayStation 2 still on store shelves in a very slim form factor for $99. It still has one of the best game libraries, which cater to more than 140 million of them around the world today.

Yea I still play my PS2 when I am bored. My favourite games of all time of PS2 History are:
God of War
Burnout 3: Takedown
Metal Gear Solid
Extermination
Ico
Metal Gear Solid 3
The PS2 single handedly kept the RPG market alive when FPSs were starting to flood consoles. Persona 4 was my favorite title.
I think i shall celebrate this by playing a little shadow of colossus and ICO just like old times.
FF7
God of War
God of War 2
LOl sorry I don't play my frend's PS2 that much but I love GOW and I know PS2's got a lot more.
I need to get myself another PS2, my 8 year old big PS2 died last year, right when I rebought MGS1. The big PS2 was great, the slim PS2 was bad, most slims Ive seen have broken down in less than a year. I miss my PS2.
Final Fantasy X
Gran Turismo 3
Metal Gear Solid
Not in the order. These were the best for me.
Metal Gear Series, Final Fantasy Series Need I say more.
I only had 10 games for the PS2, but it was well worth the money I paid in December 2001. I would still be playing it today if not for the PS3 I bought March 2009. Maybe I'll be writing a similar response in 2018 about the PS3...
Gran Turismo 3
FF X
Gran Turismo 4
Even though I'm a hardcore PC Gamer. I still love my Playstation 2 Slim(Black). My favorite games are Resident Evil Essentials and GTA Trilogy. I always treat my PS2 like my prized possession and never ever allow anyone else touch it. I must been crazy, huh....LOL
I recently gave my PS2 to my Nephew (slim, black).
GTA SA,
Gran Turismo 3,
Tie between ATV ORF 3 or Ace Combat series.
My PS2 never fails me to entertain me when it comes to good game titles
I'm still playing games on my PS2 even if newer games arrives for my PC and PS3
Several titles are just way too hard to ignore and not to mention the diversity of every game to another
Metal Gear Solid Series
Devil May Cry 3
Resident Evil 4
For me, the earliest games I played hold the fondest memories because it was all new and I played the games to death since I had limited games. The more games I got, the less I got hooked on any particular game.
SSX Tricky
Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3
[I hated FPS on console back then. Now I have been assimilated.]
1. FFX
2. Burnout 3
3. God of War
My top five...
God of War
Beyond Good and Evil
Psychonauts
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
GTA: Vice City
(still haven't played San Andreas, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico)
My fat launch Ps2 is still working pretty well surprisingly.
1. Timesplitters 2
2. FFX
3. FFXII
Honorable mention: Tales of the Abyss
I thought the PS2 was a few years older than that... Isn't the PS3 now 5 years old?
As far as play volume:

1. Tales of the Abyss (223 hours)
2. FF XII (190 hours)
3. FF X (90 hours)
I think FF X is still better that XII, but the disc died
FF7
Hahaha, wrong console, but it was the best PSOne game.
As a side, all this time I thought people missed the previous articles about editing comments when complaining, but apparently you really can't edit them even in the forums-- when they're on Tom's guide.
Gran Turismo and GTA were my best.
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence
Summoner
Disgaea
Just realized two of the games I was going to post are from PSOne.... Well my best pastime memories rest with PSOne but the only games I found worthy to be an awesome game on PS2(and I haven't played too many) are Shadow of Colossus and most notably StarOcean: Till the End of Time, what a brilliant story.
I see a lot of mentions of Shadow of the Colossus and Ico.
You guys will be pleased to know that those now have an official HD PS3 rerelease slated.
Here's to waiting for an FFVII rerelease!

Four years old this November. I'm amazed at how relatively old hardware is still able to push nice looking graphics after four years. Compared to my PC with its 5850/i7 yada yada it's not so hot, but with games like GT5 and the like, the PS3 is still good in my opinion.
I still have my PS2 waiting for someone who might want it... I just can't through it away when I know it works just fine. I just wish my PS3 played PS2 games...

I have to admit I am a huge FFVII fanboy... a re-release could do well, or flop terribly, depending on what is changed and by how much. I bought a PSP this Spring and the only thing loaded on it is FFVII (I went out of the country for business and needed something to do for two 15 hr plane flights...).
I understand why the FF7 post was down-ranked, but I can atest that I played it for many many hours on my PS2 back in the day.
God of War 1
Ratchet and clank
Sly cooper
Mark of Kri, God of War, Final Fantasy X ,THPS3 & 4
wow 10 years.... Feels bad man.... yet ironically, i have more fun with my ps2 than i do my original Xbox. Course Xbox360 corrected that.
It's kind of sad really, compared to NES I can only remember having a few favorites:
Final Fantasy X
Gran Turismo 3 and 4
Gran Theft Auto Vice City and San Andreas
Kingdom Hearts
Mortal Kombat Armageddon (w/ alcohol)
Persona 3
Persona 4
Final Fantasy XII
Fatal Frame 1-3
