17. Part II: Geforce Go 6800 And Mobility Radeon 9800 Battle For Desktop Performance
Now let's compare the mobile graphics performance to a typical desktop computer. The latter is based on the Intel motherboard D925 XCV, a Pentium 4 3.2 GHz, 1 GB DDR2-533 memory and a crop of different graphics boards from ATI and NVIDIA.
| System | |
|---|---|
| Motherboard | Intel D925 XCV |
| CPU | Intel Pentium 3.2 GHz |
| RAM | 2x Micron DDR2, 533 MHz, 1024 MB |
| Graphics card 1 | ATI Radeon X700 XT PCIe (475MHz/525MHz) |
| Graphics card 2 | ATI Radeon X800 XT PCIe (500MHz/500MHz) |
| Graphics card 3 | Nvidia Geforce 6800 GT PCIe (350MHz/500MHz) |
| Graphics card 4 | NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT PCIe (500MHz/500MHz) |
| Drivers & Settings | |
| Graphics-Driver Version | ATI Catalyst 4.10
NVIDIA Detonator v67.41 |
| Chipset driver | Intel Inf. Update |
| DirectX-Version | 9.0b |
| OS | Windows XP Professional SP1 |
| Benchmarks | |
| 3DMark 2005 | Build 110
Standard Benchmark Run |
| Unreal Tournament 2004 | Version 3323
Custom Timedemo Max Details/Quality Map: Assault-FallenCity FSAA / AF set by driver |
| Doom 3 | Version 1.0
Timedemo demo1 High Quality |
| Farcry | Version 1.3
Custom Timedemo cooler01 Very High Quality Flashlight: On Note: Configuration tool only allows 4xAF max. |
3D Mark 2005
We did not change the default settings of 3DMark 2005. FSAA and anisotropic filtering were disabled.

We found that NVIDIA's GeForce Go 6800 is far superior to the Mobility Radeon 9800 here. Taking desktop graphics boards into consideration, it is almost as fast as the Radeon X700 XT.
