Clickfree Transformer will let you rips songs right off iPods and iPhones.
We saw our first Clickfree backup product at CES earlier this year, which transformed any USB storage device into and instant and install-free backup drive. Through its software, it was able to automate a backup of all the (mostly) important files on both Windows and OS X computers (read more about it here).
Now there's another Clickfree product coming out of Canada: a backup device for the iPod and iPhone The new Clickfree Transformer will make the free space on Apple devices useable for backup files from your PC or Mac. According to the maker of Clickfree, there is no software to install or setup and no manual to read and only the excess capacity of your iPhone/iPod will be used, and existing content on the device will never be overwritten.
"From students to seniors, almost everyone owns an iPhone or an iPod these days, so why not make more use of the unused memory on these devices?" says Storage Appliance Corporation CEO, Bryan McLeod. "My 80 GB iPod has 40GB of music and photos - it still has over 40 GB of unused storage. Now I can maximize the extra storage by backing up my work and home computers. These Transformers are an inexpensive way to effortlessly backup your computer using devices you already own."
Perhaps a more interesting secondary use for the Clickfree Transformer for iPhone and iPod is its ability to take music files off of the devices and later restore them onto iTunes.
The feature as described by the company: "So many customers have changed their computers, 'orphaning' the content on the iPhone/iPod. With the new Clickfree Transformers, the content can be retrieved from the iPhone/iPod quickly and easily."
What's to stop the convenient, illegal spreading and sharing of music collections using this $50 device? Probably nothing more than moral fiber.

What fiber again?
Who cares lol, its your music you shud be able to access it easily and anywhere without the need for software like with creative mp3s. All Mp3s should be drag and drop anyway, if your not using it for buying songs itunes is completely useless.
My moral fiber is elastic
uh theres plenty of prgrams that do this already, no?
$50 to get music off an iPod? There are plenty of free options out there already...
Vepenvs on what you're trying to vo. Does it get past the VRM also?
why is this a story? there have been free options for years now. sharepod is a great backup tool.
Uh, I don't own and iPod so this may sound dumb, but
a) if the file has DRM, the DRM stops the illegal sharing (it won't run on another device without a proper license file, right?)
b) if the file is one of the DRM-free versions Apple has been selling, what's stopping anyone right this very second from copying it? (and if the answer is that iPod/iTunes won't let you, that my friends, is DRM).
That said, the guy really should just put 40gB of iPod-formatted porn on his iPod, and shell out $50+ for a USB hardrive enclosure.
You have a very interesting typo.
That picture is priceless!
What does the ruling in the article here mean to the ClickFree Transformer?

My $90 16GB Philips player does all that stuff already.
LOL at the ipod being so screwed up that you have to 'rip' your songs off of it! you know how I rip the songs off my mp3 player? I plug it into my computer, open explorer and copy the folder! using the excess space is equally as easy!
it sucks that people are going to pay money for this device that should never have needed to exist in the first place!
My $90 16GB Philips player does all that stuff already.
But those unfortunate who bought Ipods and Iphone need it though.
You have a very interesting typo.
he was using the new iSuck

That made me laugh. EVERY DRM/Copy protection method has been cracked or will be cracked.

I see a typo, how did you get a D?
That made me laugh. EVERY DRM/Copy protection method has been cracked or will be cracked.
You missed my point. The article says this device allows copying of the files which can then lead to pirated copies. I'm saying copying the file doesn't mean much if the DRM is still intact.
OBVIOUSLY you can crack the DRM, I'm just saying this particular device doesn't lead to additional pirating of DRM-protected songs.

my apple keyboard broke..so i replaced it. finally can use my D's again!
I think I'll take a pass on apple's exploding products.
