Sony Reveals Red and Blue PS3 Slims
There's no guarantee the red pill will allow you to stay in Wonderland to see how deep the rabbit hole goes, but it sure is pretty, right?
Last week we got word that gamers in the UK will soon be getting that beautiful snow-white PS3 that debuted in Japan summer 2010. Now Sony is adding a couple of new colors to its line-up with the addition of a red and blue model. CNet reports that the two new PS3 Slims, in Splash Blue and Scarlet Red will arrive in Japan on November 17, each packing a 320GB HDD.
As usual, the only difference between these PS3 Slims and the current black model we have here in the U.S. are their shiny exteriors. Buyers will also score themselves some specially colored DualShock controllers, of course. Sadly, Sony hasn't said anything about availability outside of Japan. We're crossing our fingers that these patriotic red, white and blue consoles will make their way to the United States eventually, so we'll keep you posted.

That's nice and all but other than maybe purchasing it for kids for their own room I really can't see it elsewhere. Those colors wouldn't match anything of mine and would stick out like a ugly sore thumb if I were to put it with my entertainment system.
Does offering new colored consoles really boost sales?
I have a dream where consoles will be judged by the content of their hardware instead of the color of their skins
I am glad I have my original healthy FAT shiny black SSD edition with induced cooling.
not so glad for noise though...thinking about burying it underground with a duct.
White??? That will look awful in most homes after about 3 months... it'll be yellow, especially if a smoker lives there. Red and blue aren't bad though... Bright shiny primary colors tend to sell...
I'm perfectly fine with my 60GB PS3.

Well actually, if a smoker lives there, it will look horrible until they discolor it enough with their lung tar so as to match everything else yellowish/white
You know, a can of spray paint and a little patience can make your PS3 any color you want it to be. Just something to consider....
Wow. So they are trying to keep people's interest in the aging PS3 by introducing new colors. That is kind of pathetic. Something like, 'oh hey look , the new White iPhone 4!'
I'm guessing you don't have one. Its still a very good machine...

Yes. I can think of plenty of examples where people waited for better colors before buying, or didn't buy it at all because it wasn't in a color they liked.
I have a better idea, how about a price drop Sony?
I have a even better idea, with all the security issues, and there latest EULA update, just go by something that Sony doesn't make.

wooah now lets not be so judgmental on a tech forum budd. This isn't DARE class ya know. I don't smoke and dislike cigarettes too but jeeze.
but anywho, a typical, bad sales scheme once again by console developers.
I wonder what the tag line will be on the advertising...
"Finally."?
Whoops, that's been used...
When the PS4 hits, call me not until then. This outdated stuff is for the birds. The crapbox is worse with its multiple paint jobs, a turd is still a turd even with new paint.
I wouldn't mind the red. but I still want the black controller.
For some reason, I'm reminded to buy a Eureka or Bissel vacuum cleaner.
Anyways, I agree with the guy that the colors won't blend in well with a lot of homes. I can understand more of black, white, silver, or grey, but not those colors unless it's a special edition console with a game's logo or something.
I'm guessing you don't have one. Its still a very good machine...
Don't need one. My PC is a lot better.
Ugh, they look a bit tacky.
id take a blue one. but i would lover to get that in a shiny blue, offset with mat blue for everything else, like the ps3 logo and such.
...or the crips and bloods ps3 versions
Wasn't the ps3 an 8 core cell chip running at 3.2GHz or something. And people are saying it's outdated?whilst still waiting for bulldozer. I think the chips power hasn't been harvested yet fully for sure maybe 1/4th.

its not 8 core like you think... granted it has great ability to calculate things, but its not a standard 8 core implementation. correct me if im wrong but to take advantage of it, you have to program where data gets set in software to which cores and so on. this method works wonders for things like super computers, where crap is already made that way, but in a game environment... it holds it back a bit, not power wise, but programing for it wise.
Remember how difficult it was to get the most out of the Saturn? Reminds me of the PS3.
This NEEDS to happen. I have a red Wii and a red XBOX 360 elite. A red ps3 would round out the trio. I already have a PS3, but my best friend has had it for almost two years (I live on a ship and didn't want to bring it) ... so he could just have it.
