Modern Warfare 2 DLC for PS3, PC Gets Dated

- By - Source : Tom's Guide US

Are you PS3 and PC gamers ready to get your hands on the Modern Warfare 2 DLC?

Activision yesterday announced that the PlayStation 3 version of the DLC would be available in North America on May 4. Australian and European gamers can look forward to a May 5 release. Those playing the PC version of MW2 can get their hands on the DLC on May 4 also.

The stimulus package costs $15 and contains three new maps and two older maps. Last week, it was released to Xbox 360 users who quickly ran into difficulties. A "process failure" meant that the DLC was released to Xbox Live users before Microsoft had released the Title Update for Modern Warfare 2. The error resulted in a lot of problems for people who had legitimately purchased the DLC.  Once everything had been fixed, Microsoft began offering users seven free days of Xbox Live Gold.

Will you be purchasing the DLC for PS3 or PC? Let us know in the comments below!

The only way that I am going to get this DLC is if Activision completely comes around and makes it free for the PC version like they did with the Modern Warfare 1 DLC. Given how greedy they have been getting over the last couple years, I would be unbelievably shocked if they did.

Well, if they would have had dedicated servers for online play, I might have purchased it. But, since they don't provide dedicated servers for the PC version, which basically allows people to cheat to their hearts content, nope.

BF:BC2 is SO much better.

$15 for just 3 maps and plus remake? Just buy Battlefield 2 instead, even though its old. It cost $5 less than DLC maps.

I'm genuinely surprised right now. They are taking advantage of the market right now, and to be honest I will not be purchasing another game from Infinity Ward.

I'd rather pay £100 to stop the dam hackers that we have on every single server! And god dam get this game hosted by servers already!!! Punk-buster can then be implemented! and we can get the clans back gaming.. Not much wrong with this game is there...

The game is far too unstable when working with 5 or 6 person parties trying to queue up for games against others on the internet. We spend about an hour last night trying to play with one of my buddies who didn't have it to take advantage of the free weekend, but probably only got 15 minutes of actual playing time because of disconnects, connection bugs, party seperation, etc.

BF:BC2 just killed MW2 on the PC.

WM2 is worthless, no dedicated.

ulysses35, how can you say pc gaming is dying when consoles cant keep up with the graphics that are produced by them, the market is gearing toward console people when they will buy anything and believe anything

ulysses35 :
If everyone wants dedicated servers then IW would have to charge an online gaming fee... PC gaming is dying

PC gaming is dying? That's why consoles are becoming more and more like PCs with each generation? That's why SEGA said PC gaming is the way to go essentially?

You are a fail contard.

TommySch :

Right, i'm so sick of the new way they are doing things. Can't tell you how many times I play a game, someone is hacking, so I leave, hoping to go into a different server, and it puts me back in the same one!! I miss dedicated server list. It's there way of taking away our freedom of choice.

Pc gaming is not dying, it's growing. Still orders of magnitude better then consoles, and sales are going up not down. I know more and more people who are playing pc also. Most of my friends are getting sick of consoles and switching.

What developers need to do:

1.Stop trying to push the consoles
2. stop releasing pc updates later than consoles (GTAIV)
3. Start using pc resources instead of tailoring everything to the consoles. EX. PORTS- STOP PORTING. and start using pc resources to run physx so it is actually used for more then eyecandy.
4. Stop copying game design, like auto log in to servers and crap like that.
5. Stop crippling pc code with stupid drm and 50 different copy protection schemes. Seriously, It isn't helping it's only making things much worse. You can't beat hackers. There are just to many of them. So stop punishing people who actually pay for there pc games.
6. Stop hiding pc gaming- Every store has a console setup, accessories all over the place, craploads of games, and commercials everywhere. Pc's have 4 generation old hardware on storeshelves, 10 games on a shelf hidden away from console games, no way to try them out with a pc, and never any commercials anywhere accept on dedicated gaming shows.

I truly believe that pc gaming is being held back because of these reasons.

Rant over. The end.

Is battlefield: BC2 worth getting? I feel like it is a game who's trend will die off.

OH, and biggest thing, LISTEN to the PC gamers, not your bean counters. Obviously they don't know $#!+ or pc gaming would be up.
Quit thinking about money, and give the PC gamers what they want, and your sales will go drastically up. See my list above.

Not a chance! Not interested. Won't even play the game for free.

Looked great in the trailers but they killed EVERYTHING that would have made the game a winner for me.

No sale!

I stopped playing COD after Modern Warfare (due to lack of PC support). The article fails to explain what DLC is. I don't have a clue what it means, nor do I think I really care to know what it means.

Sad to see how many people will jump on the 'band-wagon' Activision are laughing all the way to the bank. I only wish the developers / level designers / programmers etc were paid a fraction of what the marketing team get.

Charging extra for maps which could be developed for free had the PC community been more involved.

yeah, mw2 is only really fun when you have friends playing with you, totally fucking stupid without though.

Noob tubes.... Running Knife kills after you've shot the person several times... Hackers... Campers...

Somebody plz hack this. I'm not paying $15 for a few maps.

No I won't. I have been on BF:BC2 and it just seem a lot smoother than MW2. I just don't like the feel of MW2. I'll spend my money elsewhere.

dont see why xbox get it a month before ps3 as always.

is it really profitable for them to pay millions just to have 5 maps(2 of which can be played on cod 4) out a month before ps3?

no way I am buying this. Iward has done nothign to earn my money - and I regret buing the game in teh first place. It is full of hackers, and Iward, does not care - they ahve there cash cow. I am suer they WILL sell many of the map packs, it will be profitable for them, but at teh end of the days, they are killing themselves- even if it will take some time to happen. MW3 - if it happens will be a flop.

No dedicated servers, Full of cheaters and exploits, Activision treated PC and PS3 gamers as second class citizens and selling out to Microsoft and the Xbox but now they want to sell some DLC. hahahahahaha. Its not anywhere near the same league as Battlefield.
