Dell's smartphone is rumored to be coming to the U.S. in the next few months and it's semi-good news for AT&T users who are itching to get an Android-powered device.

Yesterday CrunchGear reported that the Dell phone, which is currently a China-only device, is coming to the U.S. No details on carrier, price or launch date were available so all we really knew was that Dell would be changing the design slightly so that it would look less "cheap and plasticky" by the time it got to the U.S.

Today a report in the Wall Street Journal says that AT&T will be the official carrier, with the device being introduced "as early as next year." WSJ cites people "briefed on the matter," so there's no real idea where the information came from, but if it comes to fruition, it'll be AT&T's first Android phone.

Now, if you're on AT&T and holding out for a device running the Google OS, I'm not sure a Dell phone is the blessing you're looking for. Sure it might be Android, but at the end of the day it's a Dell phone and a lot of people (me included, admittedly) have already decided the Mini 3i will be a kind of 'meh' affair. Then again, "a lot of people" isn't everyone on AT&T, so how 'bout it? Are you on AT&T, eager to get an Android phone and willing to take a look at what Dell has to offer? Let us know in the comments below!

Dell's bloatware and AT&T's. That phone is going to take forever to turn on.

AT&T is going to offer the Dell phone. No ones going to buy it because its a Dell phone. AT&T will surmise that its the fault of Android, and release no other Android phones. A year later, Apple releases the iPhone on every other major carrier, and AT&T loses half its customer base, causing it to declare record losses and go into bankruptcy. Deutch Telecom, seizing a once in a lifetime opportunity, buys up the scraps of AT&T, making the new AT&T&T-Mobile provider the largest in America.

All hail our new German overlords! Thanks Dell!!!

I've been waiting for an Android phone on AT&T for a while now. I'll take a look at the Dell but I may just end up jumping networks when I get the chance.

That's a dumb move from Dell. For that price point, AT&T users will choose the iPhone over this one. They should have gone to a competing network like Verizon, one that actually has decent cellular service, not the crap farm that is AT&T.

I have a Blackberry Bold. It does everything I need it to, most of which an Android phone will not do (Lotus Notes sync out of the box?). I will not be replacing it any time soon. I dearly loved by Dell x50v Axim, but it was not a phone.
