News that the chief of PR at Yahoo!, Jill Nash, has decided to leave the company has been overshadowed by slightly more entertaining news that the new CEO, Carol Bartz, threw a wobbler about staff leaking memos to the press only to have said hissy fit leaked to the press.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Carol was critical of the fact that her first company-wide memo made its way to the press. “I hope whoever did it, feels bad enough to come forward and resign.” However, according to Kara Swisher over at AllThingsD, Bartz’s language was a little more colorful at an all hands meeting. Bartz said that she would “drop-kick to f***ing Mars” employees who leak to the press.

Stifling our giggles for a moment, it looks as though Bartz is a total hardass and really eager to get the ducks in a line over at Yahoo!. The WSJ reports that she even said she’s tempted to offer a bounty for those who do send the emails.

“Maybe we should have a weekly bounty on such people. I will throw in the first thousand dollars.”

All said and done, here’s Bartz’s first memo to the company about her first week (courtesy of AllThingsD) let's hope someone leaks what I can only assume will be an outraged response from Carol. Swings and round abouts.

Subject: My First Friday

It’s Friday!

Wow, this week has gone fast. I thought I’d give you a quick idea of how things went for me this week. First, a BIG thank you for all the positive comments you’ve sent my way. It has really made me feel welcome. And a special big thanks to all the guys (that’d be Willie, Anthony, Jack, Allen, Daryl, Nathan, Ali, etc.) that worked so quickly to get Judy and I up and running. I know I told you at the all-hands that I was going to be bringing my lunch. That was before I saw the cafeteria–it rocks! Forget that leftover stuff!

My first impression of the Yahoos is that you guys are smart and dedicated, and have a lot of great energy with a can-do attitude (ok, maybe there’s some sucking up because I’m the boss, but it impressed the heck out of me).

I wasn’t too happy to see some “inside sources” quoting my all-hands comments to the outside press–STOP IT! And while we’re on the subject of all-hands, I cancelled the regularly scheduled after-earnings meeting simply because it’s just too close to the one we just had. Don’t take it as something it’s not.

I’m pumped up and proud to be here. I’m going to spend my weekend shopping for something purple (great excuse for a little retail therapy)…

Carol

Seems horribly unprofessional to me. Whose desk did she climb out from under to get hired?

Now you know why she got pissed.

She's obviously not familiar with Gulliver's Travels, or she wouldn't call her workers Yahoos.

I wonder if all-worldwide@yahoo.com is a legitimate company wide list and, if so, what kind of lame 'security' it would use to validate who is sending to the list.

Why doesn't she just set the permission of her email to "do not forward"
I use all the time in my Outlook 2007. Sort of basic stuff.

Even more basic stuff would be using the ole' copy & paste, which not even Outlook 2007 could stop.

And if that fails, there's always the option for screenshots.

And what's to stop them from copying the e-mail? permissions do jack. If they can't copy the e-mail (IDK why) screen shot the thing and paste it together.

She should be embarrassed as she obviously failed grammar: "worked so quickly to get Judy and I up and running" should be Judy and me.

Leaking of company internal memo should be viewed the same as leaking national secrete. Too many people are using leaks to buy off journalists.

Leaking company internal DATA or PLANS should be viewed [almost] the same as leaking national secrets. Leaking an internal memo from your boss may be grounds for termination, but is not like selling the plans for solid-rocket booster engines to the Chinese.

I did it. I confess. Just tired of over zealous, bitchy females with no clue thinking they are superior to everyone including God, wanting to run things. To bad she is just a pathetic blonde product of an elitist society.

I believe this lady came from Autodesk, she was their CEO for a long time if I'm correct.

Now after hearing this, especially the part about dropkicking someone to Mars, she sounds like a lunatic.

In her defense I can understand why she's upset. The bounty hunt idea sounds grand, they should have public lynchings too while they're at it...

Her comments seem a bit juvenile. Maybe she does tricks in the board room to earn her pay.

The movement for respect for women in the workplace just took a major nosedive. Way to go Carol!! Maybe she'll give regular updates about her periods as well.

If my CEO sent out company wide emails like that, I'd quit because there's rough waters ahead.

To be honest it just seems like she's wigging out a little at the prospect of taking on the huge job at hand over at Yahoo!

Still, not a very level-headed way of going about things. She sounds like she definitely needs to be a little more chilled out.

@ masterbwanabwana

Until recently, "Judy and me" was considered bad grammar, the correct way was "Judy and I".

Still s**ts me to tears hearing "blah blah blah and me"
