Chinese Director Filming 3D Porn for IMAX
Are you ready for 3D porn?
The adult industry is known for being a big player in the technology industry. It's played a hand in deciding two major format wars and it's never one to be left behind when a new breed of entertainment is taking the world by storm. So it should come as no surprise that since 3D film has become so popular, the adult industry is poised to take advantage.
Reuters reports that one Chinese director is hoping to cash in on the success of a recent slew of 3D box office hits by producing the first IMAX-3D film. Dubbed "3-D Sex & Zen: Extreme Ecstasy, " the film is a remake of the 1991 title "Sex and Zen."
"The sex scenes are explicit and sometimes violent, but the main theme of the story is love," director Christopher Sun told Reuters.
So how is this different to making a 2D porn flick? Well, for one, it takes twice as long. There's also the need for a higher budget, more elaborate lighting arrangements, the equipment is more expensive, and the process is more complicated.
"We have to change the lenses for a long time, the setting, lighting, we need more time than a normal movie," porn star Saori Hara told Reuters after finishing a take.
However, "Sex and Zen" is not the only movie getting redone in 3D. Hustler is currently working on its most expensive project to date: A 3D parody of James Cameron's Avatar. "This Ain’t Avatar XXX" wrapped back in June and is expected to be available next month. According to Reuters, Italian director Tinto Brass is also getting in on the 3D-mania, with plans to film his 70's classic "Caligula" in 3D.

Anyone else find that absolutely hilarious? I think I'll stick with my POV adult movies until the reviews come in. Last thing I want is to feel nauseous in my moment of truth.
3D? Alright, that is the fad these days; but in IMAX? Who wants to be in a theatre surrounded by hundreds of dudes yanking it? Last I checked very few people have their own in-home IMAX theatre.
I thought , or shall I say hoped, that this 3D TV and movie stuff was a fad. Maybe it will take off.

Like it, or not, the porn industry did help to revolutionize the Internet. Will they do the same for 3D movies? Sure are a lot o' lonely dudeslikely to upgrade the home/cave theater for this. Not so sure this is a good thing, personally. Time will tell.

It probably is a fad. When people start getting seriously ill because they have been watching too much 3d, it will all go away. If you were around in the early to mid 90's, you may recall that 3d made a go then, but was removed from the market because it impairs normal perception. See this.

Yes. It brought us the wonderful popup, and, thankfully, the even more wonderful popup blocker, and after that, the popup was dead. A mere 15-minutes of fame at best. Heck, we might as well give the porn industry credit for snipes on TV, too. After all, snipes are a form of popup.

Seriously, is anyone able to name anything else that the porn industry has really brought to the internet? Streaming video? Nope. There well before the porn industry. Anything? Chat? Nope. There well before the porn industry.
Come on. Lets make a list of all the fabulous things that the porn industry has brought to the internet.
I think that when people say that the porn industry has been a leader in innovation, they are just repeating the PR of that the porn industry has been pandering to justify their existence. My bet is that anything that the porn industry claims to have invented would have been invented anyway, or really was invented by someone or some other industry.
But why did the industry skip touch screens?
