The release of Firefox 4 for desktop platforms may have overshadowed the significant release candidate of Firefox Mobile, AKA Fennec – the one for Android and Maemo.
Like desktop operating systems, the mobile ones come with built-in browsers. Mozilla, however, has always been about crafting something different. Rather than being based off Webkit, Firefox Mobile uses the same rendering engine as in Firefox 4.0.
Also pulled from the desktop release is Firefox Sync, which keeps a consistent profile of bookmarks, settings, passwords and even open tabs on all your synced machines. This means that Firefox Mobile can access your desktop tabs from any of your computers, which could be handy when trying to look up that thing you found at home or work.
