RIM Confirms Bold Touch, its Thinnest Phone Yet

Meet the BlackBerry Bold 9930/9900, otherwise known as the BlackBerry Bold Touch. The BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 marry the best of both worlds, combining the physical keyboard BlackBerry owners love so much with a high-res capacitive touch screen measuring 2.8-inches. The 9900 supports HSPA+ connectivity, while the 9930 supports CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and HSPA+ global roaming on GSM/UMTS networks.

Based on BlackBerry OS 7, the phones boast a 1.2GHz Snapdragon CPU, 768MB of RAM, up to 32GB of storage via MicroSD (8GB as standard), a 5-megapixel camera with flash and HD video capture, micro USB, NFC, Bluetooth, 802.11a/b/g/n, compass, accelerometer and proximity sensor. The casing is composed of a stainless steel circumference and a fiberglass back. At 10.5mm, it's RIM's thinnest handset yet.

Details on availability haven’t been announced yet; RIM is only willing to commit to worldwide availability “beginning this summer” and have provided nothing specific in the way of time frames for the U.S. or UK. Similarly, the company didn’t offer any details about pricing for any region. We'll keep you posted!
