Buying a mattress is a long-term investment in your health — but that doesn't mean that price should ever be a barrier to a decent night's sleep. In our quest to crown the Best Budget Mattress in the Tom's Guide Sleep Awards 2025, we were looking for a bed that delivered in terms of all round comfort and support at an accessible price.

After testing 120+ mattresses in order to curate our guide to the very best mattresses for all sleepers and budgets, the Siena Signature came out as one the best cheap mattress we've ever tested, scoring highly in our Siena Signature mattress review.

The Siena Signature is a firm all-foam mattress that's best suited to back and stomach sleepers, with a simple build that consists of just two layers of foam. Its streamlined construction also helps keep its price down — a queen will cost you just $359.

This image shows our subjective motion isolation test, conducted in our sleep studio. The Siena Memory Foam Mattress sits on a bed frame in the middle of a decorated room. Frances Daniels, a member of our sleep team, lies on the right side of the mattress in a side sleeping position. On the left of the bed, Nicola Appleton is climbing on the mattress using high force movement. Despite Nicola's movements, Frances looks undisturbed.

Siena Signature: Affordably brilliant

The Signature is the best-selling centerpiece of Siena's mattress line-up, and it features a straightforward design: two layers of CeriPUR-US certified foam that provide light contouring and plenty of support, so your body stays aligned in the night and you won't wake up with aches and pains.

This isn't a bed that you sink into: the Siena Signature is very firm and we rate it as an 8/10 on the firmness scale. However its top layer of memory foam provides just the right of cushioning that gently cradles and lifts the lumbar while back sleeping. We actually rate it as one of the best mattresses for back pain you can buy.

Back and stomach sleepers aside, average weight side sleepers are unlikely to sleep comfortably on the Siena Signature as there's simply not enough pressure relief for hips and shoulders. Anyone in search of one of the best memory foam mattresses that offers a little more give than the Siena, you'll find plenty of options in the current Black Friday mattress deals.

A slightly more expensive alternative would be the slightly softer Nectar Classic, while the EGOHOME Black 12" memory foam mattress is a strong choice if you want an affordable mattress that's suitable for all sleep positions.

The Siena performed well during recent retesting. At 10" deep it might look a little thin compared to other lofty builds, but if height matters to you there's also a 12" version that's only $399 for a queen. Our stomach sleeping lead tester found it instantly comfortable and supportive, while our back sleeping Sleep Editor was full of praise for both its support and motion isolation.

Our mattress tests confirmed the Siena Signature's ability to dampen movement across the surface of the bed: it scored a cool 4.6 out of 5 in our lab motion isolation tests, while hands-on testing found that even high-intensity movements were unlikely to cause a disturbance. We also found that the Siena Signature delivered strong support along the edge of the mattress, which means you'll feel just as supported sitting on the sides as you would in the center.

Even the temperature control in the Siena Signature is surprisingly effective, considering that this is a budget all-foam mattress with no specific cooling features. We found that there was minimal heat build-up, and while our thermal imaging tests showed that it retained some heat, it cooled reasonably quickly for a foam bed.

All in all the Siena Signature performs incredibly well for its low price, making it a clear choice for the best budget mattress.
