Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders live — latest restock updates and retailers to check ahead of launch day

I’m tracking Switch 2 pre-order restocks at every major retailer

Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders

Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are currently proving to be particularly hard to find. In the U.S., the hybrid console was made available for pre-order last month and sold out in just minutes.

Since then, there have been a few restocks at retailers such as Walmart and the Nintendo Store. But I’m still waiting for a large wave of inventory. Fortunately, GameStop has announced it will have extra consoles in time for Switch 2’s launch on June 5. Plus, I’m closely watching every major retailer to bring you the latest stock updates this week.

The situation has been a little better in the U.K. While Switch 2 pre-orders initially sold out, there have been plenty of restocks since, with some stock sticking around for multiple days. Though several retailers have opted to only make the console available in pricey bundles, which could explain why shoppers haven’t been snapping up all the stock immediately.

Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch in both regions on June 5 and will retail for $449 / £395, or $499 / £429 bundled with a copy of Mario Kart World.

If you’re looking to lock in a pre-order in time for a summer of Switch 2 gaming, I’m using my years of stock tracking experience to bring you the latest restock news and updates. I’ve already secured my Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order, now I’m on hand to help you get yours.

Could we see another weekend Switch 2 restock

A couple of weeks back we saw a surprise second-chance to pre-order the Nintendo Switch 2 at Walmart, and I'm wondering (and certainly hoping) we could see something similar over the longer Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Unfortunately, as retailers are now firming up their launch day restock plans, I wouldn't confidentially predict a restock will happen over the next few days, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up hope.

I'm checking all the major retailers below, and I'll report back if any stock appears.

Switch 2 still in stock at Currys (UK)

One of the biggest pleasant surprises of this week has been the abundance of stock available in the U.K. and the latest restock at Currys is sticking around as we enter the bank holiday weekend.

In less welcome news, this is a bundle restock, which means there is no standalone Switch 2 consoles on sale at present. However, if you're budget can stretch, and you want some accessories alongside the console, this is the best way to get a Switch 2 in the U.K. ahead of launch at present.

Switch 2 stock sweep: No signs of restock before weekend

Happy Friday! It's almost the extended Memorial Day weekend, and wouldn't it be lovely to head into the three-day weekend with a Switch 2 pre-order secured? Sadly, at present, the stock situation remains unchanged. I've done my first stock sweep of the day, and there are currently no signs of additional chances to buy at any retailers.

But don't just take my word for it, here's all the retailer links you can have a look yourself. Perhaps you'll get lucky and catch a surprise restock at the perfect moment.

Switch 2 drought continues...

Thursday is coming to a close here on the East Coast and the Switch 2 drought continues. The good news is that many retailers have now confirmed they will have Switch 2 pre-orders available on launch day. So if you can hang in there for just a few more days — you could get lucky come that first week of June.

In the meantime, I just did a thorough retailer sweep and stock remains sold out. Check out the links below if you want to take a peek for yourself.

Restock alert! Switch 2 bundles at Currys (UK)

Switch 2 at Currys

The Switch 2 situation is still pretty bleak here in the U.S. But it looks like Currys (UK) just got some Switch 2 pre-order stock because they have quite the number of bundles available right now.

The downside is that they start at £569, which is quite the hefty price. (Their standalone Switch 2 consoles are all sold out). Here's a list of what's available at Currys:

Switch 2 standalone stock at Very U.K.

While the situation in the U.S. remains unchanged, it's looking much rosier in the U.K., where the Nintendo Switch 2 in stock at Very for £395.

Yes, that's the Switch 2 at its regular price without any unwanted extras in a bundle. Very restocked the console earlier this week, but eventually sold out. However, more stock is now available, so get yours locked in. This could end up being the final stock of the week from Very, so if you know you want Switch 2 for launch, I'd get yours ASAP.

Walmart is starting to charge Switch 2 pre-orders

If you managed to secure a Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order, you'll want to heed the advice of reliable stock tracker Jake Randall.

The retailer is reportedly now charging accounts with a Switch 2, and if your payment doesn't go through, you will apparently see your order cancelled, with no way to replace that order. So, if you have a Switch 2 pre-order at Walmart, make sure you're all set to go with adequate funds in your account.

Still not Switch 2 stock in the U.S.

Stock sweep complete, and the situation remains unchanged. At present the Nintendo Switch 2 remains sold out in the U.S., but with launch day restocks on the way, at least there is a light at the end of the tunnel. However, if you want to check out the situation for yourself, here's all the links you need to check for stock yourself.

First Switch 2 stock sweep of the day coming up...

Switch 2 console

Morning! It's been another quiet week without any Switch 2 restock in the U.S. to speak of, but we have had some updates that indicate a larger restock on launch day (June 5) at retailers including Best Buy, Target and GameStop.

However, perhaps today could see fresh chances to score a Switch 2 in the U.S., I'm about to do my first stock sweep of the day, so I'll report back on my findings soon...

Switch 2 stock remains depleted...

The day is slowly coming to an end here on the East Coast and yet again there's no sign of Switch 2 pre-order stock. (You can check the links below for yourself).

However, the situation is a little different in the U.K. You can still get the standalone Switch 2 for £395 at Very or the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle for £429 at EE. They've been in stock for the past few hours, but could sell out soon-ish, so don't hesitate too much.

Nintendo expects to sell 15 million Switch 2 consoles

The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller in hand with Mario Kart World on TVs in the background

Even though it's pricier than its predecessor — and impossible to pre-order in the U.S. right now — Nintendo says it expects to sell 15 million Switch 2 consoles in the fiscal year ending March 2026, according to CNBC. This is the first time Nintendo has set a sales forecast for its new console.

Meanwhile, research from Omdia says Nintendo could sell as many as 14.7 million Switch 2 consoles in 2025 alone. That would be 10% more than what Nintendo sold during the year the original Switch debuted.

Those numbers seem very lofty, but considering how Switch 2 is riding the original's success, don't be surprised if this system becomes a big seller. Of course, low stock could set back Nintendo's projections.

Restock alert: Multiple retailers have stock (UK)

Hey, all! Deals EIC Louis back for another afternoon of Switch 2 pre-orders. I'll start things off with good news (if you're in the UK). I've found Switch 2 stock at three different retailers. There's a standalone console, Mario Kart World bundle, and a slightly pricier bundle with travel kit and Switch 2 camera. You can check them all out via the links below.

Sadly, there's still no pre-order opportunities here in the U.S., but I'll keep watching.

Switch 2 stock sweep: nothing to report

Sorry for the non-update here, but I've just done my latest sweep of all the retailers in the U.S. with Switch 2 listings, and unfortunately, I once again bring you the news that nothing has changed. If you want to search through the listings yourself just in case you don't quite want to take my word for it, here's all the links you need below...

Very finally sold out of Switch 2 in the U.K.

Bad news for those in the U.K. still after a Switch 2, online stockiest Very is once again sold out of pre-orders.

The retailer had restocked the Switch 2 on Monday, and while the standalone unit and the Mario Kart World bundle were unavailable within a couple hours, an additional bundle that threw in a Samsung MicroSD card for £479 did stick around into Tuesday.

Sadly, it's now also sold out, so at present there's no stock at any major retailers, but I'm keeping watch, and will update if there's another stock drop. Switch 2 has been readily available in the U.K., so we could see more chances to buy ahead of launch.

No signs of Switch 2 stock right now

Nintendo Switch 2 London event hands-on images

While there are encouraging signs of a sizable Switch 2 restock on launch day, at present, it remains a case of "sold out" at every major retailer. Of course, this isn't unexpected, the whispers are that retailers are holding back stock for launch now.

Plus, if there was to be a restock today (or this week), it's likely to be during U.S. working hours, rather than in the very early hours of the morning. However, I'm keeping my eyes locked across retailers and will update if the situation changes.

Will Walmart have Switch 2 stock on launch day?

We already know that Target, GameStop and Best Buy will be restocking the Nintendo Switch 2 on launch day (June 5), but the big unknown at present is Walmart.

However, we may have just gotten a clue that the mega-retailer is also gearing up to offer new opportunities to score a Switch 2. As spotted by reliable stock tracker Jake Randall, Walmart Canada has confirmed it will have an in-store restock on June 5.

Obviously, right now, this just confirms a restock in Canada rather than the U.S., but Randall points out that Walmart opted for the same pre-order strategy across both regions, so it's not a huge stretch to suggest Walmart U.S. could also restock at launch.

Could we see Switch 2 pre-order restock today?

I sound like a broken record at this point, but here's very much hoping that today is the day where we finally see a restock of the Nintendo Switch 2 at a major retailer.

Now, I'm not placing any bets on that actually happening, I have a sneaking suspicion that we won't see any major restocks of the console until launch day now, but as always, I'm keeping an eye out across retailers, and will update if stock drops.

I'm about to dive into my first retailer sweep of the day, so will report back soon...

Retailer sweep: Switch 2 stock remains absent

Yet another day with no Switch 2 stock is coming to an end. But launch day is coming up fast and things are looking pretty positive now that we know that GameStop, Best Buy, and Target will have extra pre-order stock.

That said, we'll still keep doing our regular retailer sweeps in the hopes that one retailer may have extra stock in the coming days. Here are the links below if you want to check for yourself.

GameStop Switch 2 launch event details...

GameStop tax day sale

By now it's no secret that both Best Buy and GameStop will have additional Switch 2 pre-orders on launch day. However, I want to call out one small detail in GameStop's event.

GameStop has posted on X that it'll have additional Switch 2 units in-store and online on launch day, which is June 5th. However, it also said that its launch event begins at 3pm (local time) on June 4th. Switch 2 pick-ups start at 12am (ET) i.e. June 5th.

In other words, get to your local GameStop before 3pm on June 4th (the day before Nintendo's official launch) for your chance to score a Switch 2 pre-order in-store.

Keep your eye on this retailer...

Verizon Switch 2

Back in the PS5 restock days there were two retailers that completely blindsided me. One of them was Verizon. One day they randomly stocked the PS5 and made it available to Verizon customers only. (Eventually, when there was more stock, they opened their PS5 supply to all shoppers).

Verizon does indeed have a dedicated Nintendo page and they do have various Switch/Switch OLED models in stock. However, right now there's no sight of a Switch 2 product page. At least not for now. I'll keep a close eye on them.

Buyer beware: Pricey bundles ahead...

Mario (voiced by Chris Pratt) in the Super Mario Movie, surrounded by mushrooms.

I love a good bundle. Oftentimes, it's a great way to get two items you want at a cheaper price than buying them separately. However, not all bundles are designed with savings in mind.

For example, I appreciate that Best Buy will have a lot of Switch 2 bundles available, but I recommend doing some quick maths before buying one. For example, they're bundling the standalone Switch 2 with Mario Kart World for $529. By comparison, Nintendo (and other retailers including Best Buy) are selling the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle for $499.

Some of Best Buy's bundles will sell for as much as $719. You can check out the full list via the link below.

Samsung pushing for a Switch 2 OLED...

Nintendo switch oled handheld display

If you're like me, you're probably disappointed that the Switch 2 lacks an OLED screen. Well, it appears that Samsung is pushing Nintendo to use its OLED panels in a future version of the Switch 2, according to Bloomberg.

Samsung is one of Nintendo's key hardware partners and also provided the OLED display panels used in the current Nintendo Switch OLED. So it's not too surprising to see the company pushing for an Switch 2 OLED.

That said, this doesn't guarantee there will be an OLED Switch 2, but the fact that one of Nintendo's key hardware partners is pushing for an OLED model could be good news for gamers who want that OLED screen.

Switch 2 still in stock at Very in the U.K.

U.K. readers, I've not forgotten about you! In all the talk this morning about launch day restocks at the likes of Target and Best Buy in the U.S., over in the U.K., you don't need to wait until June 5 to score a Switch 2 as the console remains in stock over at Very.

The online stockist did have standalone (and MKW Bundle) inventory yesterday (May 19), but this is now sold out. However, the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World + 256GB SanDisk MicroSD Card Bundle for £479 is still available, and I think this is a pretty solid package.

You're getting the Switch 2 console (obviously!), the most high-profile launch game, and a very useful accessory all at RRP. A MicroSD is likely to be one of the most essential Switch 2 accessories, so it's a worthwhile bundle. I don't know how much longer this stock will stick around, so if you want a Switch 2, head over to Very now.

Target reportedly set for launch day restock

Nintendo Switch 2

I may not be able to bring you any news of Switch 2 restocks today (at least, not yet), but there's some good news ahead of launch day. According to reliable stock tracker Jake Randall, Target is gearing up for a major restock on Switch 2 launch day.

Randall reports that on June 5, Target locations will each have between 40-60 units, with a roughly 50/50 split between standalone consoles and the Mario Kart World Bundle. However, this restock will be in-store only, so you'll need to head down to your nearest Target store in good time, as I expect there will be queues forming before opening.

First Switch 2 stock sweep of the day

Okay, so first Switch 2 stock sweep of the day is complete, and there's no sign of the console anywhere. However, this isn't a major surprise, it's still the very early hours of the morning in the U.S., so it would have been very unlikely that any retailer would offer fresh opportunities to lock-in a Switch 2 at this time. So, let's keep our fingers crossed as the working day begins in just a couple of hours, the situation changes.

If you want to check out retailers for yourself, the links you need are below...

Could we see Switch 2 stock today?

Good morning! It's the start of another day, and that means more chances for Switch 2 pre-order restock. There's no confirmed drops today, but I'm about to dive into my first retailer sweep of the day, and I'll report back if the situation has changed overnight.

Still no signs of stock...

There are no signs of Switch 2 stock anywhere. I just did a thorough retailer sweep and everyone is sold out right now. But there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

Launch date (June 5) is right around the corner and we expect many major retailers to offer new stock as early as midnight on launch day.

So while the situation may seem a bit bleak now, there's a good chance more stock is roughly 2+ weeks out. Below are all the retailer links should you want to take a peek for yourself.

A must-have accessory...

The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is going to be one of the most popular Switch 2 accessories. It actually managed to sell out earlier in the month, but retailers are offering pre-order stock once again. If you know you're going to get a Switch 2 on launch day, make sure to secure a Switch 2 Pro Controller as well.

Restock alert! Switch 2 at Very (UK)

Hey, everyone! Deals editor Louis hopping onboard our Switch 2 pre-order live blog for the rest of the day. So as Rory pointed out, there's no inventory available in the U.S.

However, the Switch 2 stock is still available at Very UK. That said, it's selling out fast. Earlier there were three options/bundles to choose from and we're now down to just one. Surprise, surprise...it's the priciest bundle that's still available, but it's not so bad as you get Mario Kart World and a Samsung microSD Express 256GB card.

All quiet on the Switch 2 pre-order stock front

Switch 2 console

Apologies if you've heard the above terrible play on words from me before, but I've run out of new ways to spin the situation. Unfortunately, once again, it's been another morning without any sign of Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order restock at any U.S. retailers.

Seeing as most (but not all) restocks happen in the morning, I would guess this means today (May 19) will be yet another day without any new opportunities to score a Switch 2 in the U.S. But here at Tom's Guide, we don't give up easily, so we'll keep checking throughout the day and alert you if the situation changes, just don't bet on it.

If you want to check retailers for yourself, here are the links...

Save on Switch 1 games ahead of Switch 2 launch

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom screenshot

The Nintendo Switch 2 is confirmed to offer backwards compatibility with most (but not quite all) Switch 1 games, so it's well worth taking advantage of any discounts ahead of the console's launch next month.

Right now, there's a massive Nintendo Switch game with deals from $7, including The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for $44 at Woot.TotK is getting a Switch 2 upgrade at launch, and will cost $10 for existing owners, so pick up the excellent title now, and when the Switch 2 launches, you can score the new version at a discount.

Nintendo confirms new GameChat feature

Nintendo Switch 2 Direct

Still not Switch 2 restocks in the U.S., so to pass the time while I wait (and hope) to see retailers offer more chances at securing a console, I've been looking through the latest Nintendo Switch 2 news, and this new GameChat feature has caught my eye.

Eurogamer reports that the GameChat feature on Switch 2 will offer both text-to-speech and live captions. The former will allow you to type messages which are then read out by an automated voice, while the latter will transcribe your speech during GameChat sessions. If you're out of the loop, GameChat is basically the Switch 2's new video call functionality, and can be accessed via the new dedicated "C" button.

These are useful accessibility features, and I'm glad to see Nintendo adding them.

Switch 2 in stock at Very in the U.K.

Folks in the U.K. who still need to secure a Switch 2, there's good news. Switch 2 is in stock at Very, and this time I'm not just talking about bundles, the standalone console for £395 and the Mario Kart Bundle for £429 are both available right now.

This stock might not last long, and is a rare chance to pick up the Switch 2 on its own without any bundled extras, so head over to Very right now and get yours secured.

Best Buy will also have launch day stock

Best Buy storefront

It's not just GameStop that has confirmed plans to offer fresh chances to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 on launch (June 5) either. Best Buy has also announced it will have a "limited inventory of systems" on the day that Nintendo's new console releases.

Though, expect getting hold of a console on June 5 to be pretty tricky. "Expect to see long lines at popular Best Buy stores in US cities hours in advance of the midnight release date, and some in the crowd may not be able to get the new console," Best Buy told The Shortcut .

If you don't yet have a Switch 2 pre-order, and you want the console on launch day, you might need to prepare yourself for a long day/night of queueing.

GameStop confirms Switch 2 restock on the way

The Switch 2 stock situation might a little frustrating right now, but there's good news for the launch week. GameStop has confirmed that it will have more Switch 2 inventory "in-store and online at launch." This is currently the only confirmed restock.

The retailer hasn't announced how it will handle online stock, but in-store launch events begin at 3 p.m. local time on June 4, with pick up starting at midnight ET and 9 p.m. PT. This might be your best chance to secure a Switch 2 for release day.

If you do want to try and buy a Nintendo Switch 2 during this launch restock, you'll want to head to your local GameStop nice and early. But if you'd rather wait for more consoles to be available online, I'm keeping an eye out for confirmed date and times.

Nintendo Switch 2 stock check — here's the state of play

So, it's pretty much a case of "as you were" this Monday morning. It's not a huge surprise, but I'm not seeing any fresh chances to secure a Switch 2 pre-order today.
