Back in August, Sling introduced the Sling TV Day Pass. For just $4.99, this new live TV streaming service plan gives you 24-hour access to Sling Orange, which includes ESPN as well as dozens of other channels. It's a great solution for those looking to cut the cord for less, but Sling just revealed that the Day Pass is getting even cheaper.

Today (Nov. 19), Sling announced that it's dropping the price of its Sling Orange Day Pass subscription to just a dollar. No, that's not a typo. Right now, you can get Sling for $1.

Want the cheapest way to stream ESPN? Then you want a Sling Day Pass. For $1, you get 24 hours of access to Sling Orange, which includes ESPN (select 4K streams), ESPN 2, ESPN 3 and more. Promotion ends Nov. 30.

Sling is offering this deal to celebrate its win against Disney in court. When Sling first offered up its Day Pass, it drew the ire of Disney, which owns ESPN, which is part of the Sling Orange package.

So Disney took Sling to court, but Sling won a preliminary injunction, allowing the cable TV alternative to continue selling the Day Pass. That's another big loss for Disney in the live TV arena; the media giant just went through a lengthy and costly dispute with YouTube TV that ended with YouTube and Disney reaching a deal that gave YouTube essentially everything it asked for.

But Disney's loss is your gain. So if you're looking to watch ESPN for less, sign up for a Sling Day Pass today and start streaming for just $1. Hurry though — Sling says this deal goes away on Nov. 30.

The Sling Day Pass isn't perfect, but it is affordable

Here are a few things to consider before signing up for the Sling Orange Day Pass:

  • Do you only need ESPN? If you just want ESPN, then the Sling Orange Day Pass can be a great solution. You get ESPN, ESPN 2 and dozens of additional channels. But if you want channels like CNN, NFL Network or local news stations, then this plan won't be the right solution for you.
  • Do you need more than one simultaneous stream? The great thing about the Sling Day Pass is that you get the benefits of Sling Orange for that day. But you also get the shortcomings of Sling Orange. That means you only get one simultaneous stream across all your devices. So if you're hoping to watch in multiple rooms on game day, you'll need to consider an alternative solution, such as upgrading to Sling Orange and Blue, signing up for the ESPN streaming service or trying out a different cable alternative altogether.

To recap, if you just want to watch a game on your big screen one night, $1 is a great way to score ESPN for the cheapest price possible. But if you need more than just ESPN or need multiple streams, then there are other solutions that are better for you.
