'Peacemaker' Star Steve Agee Talks About Working with His New DCU Scene Partner in Season 2
When these two are together, I can't stop laughing

"Peacemaker" season 2 is now through two episodes of its eight-episode run on HBO Max. I was a big fan of the first episode and the job that James Gunn did establishing "Peacemaker" in the new DCU, whether you had watched "Superman" or not. But as good as that first episode was — and it was — I think episode 2 was even more hilarious than the first, which wasn't exactly devoid of laughter.
Dream come true. I'd actually already known Tim for a few years beforehand, but just socially. I've always really wanted to work with him, and it was beyond what I hoped it would be. He is so goddamn funny, and he's also a really good actor.
Steve Agee on Tim Meadows
A big reason for that is the pairing of Steve Agee and Tim Meadows as A.R.G.U.S. agents John Economos and Langston Fleury. Agee's Economos is a returning part of the show's main cast, and while not just the comic relief of the show, he is certainly known for being funny. But Meadows is a new addition to the cast this year, and he's a comedic acting legend.
Pairing these two comedic actors is gold, and if you couldn't stop yourself from laughing while watching Agee and Meadows together, you're not alone. "Constantly," was Agee's response to me when I asked him if Meadows got him to break on set.
"Dream come true," he said of getting to with with Meadows. "I'd actually already known Tim for a few years beforehand, but just socially. I've always really wanted to work with him, and it was beyond what I hoped it would be. He is so goddamn funny, and he's also a really good actor."
I couldn't find any argument with that assessment. Whether it's as a "Saturday Night Live" cast member, especially as the talk-show host "The Ladies Man," or as the principal in "Mean Girls," Meadows is an actor who has never failed to make me laugh.
"Peacemaker" season 2 has been no exception. When Meadows' Agent Fleury tells Economos that he has "bird blindness," I immediately broke, and genuinely couldn't tell if he was being serious or messing with Economos until Eagly attacked Fleury and his soldiers later in the episode.
I wasn't the only one who broke either, according to Agee: "That first scene where I meet him in the van, if you notice, he's like, standing over my shoulder the whole time. And we had rehearsed that scene, literally, not even really the scene, but just kind of like blocking it, like a couple weeks earlier with James [Gunn].

"And James was like, 'Oh, it'd be really funny if you just, like, would occasionally, like, touch him, like on the shoulder.' And Tim comes in and just first of all, [Agee and I both are chuckling uncontrollably at this point] he starts taking my chicken nuggets and eating them with which is weird, but I was legitimately creeped out with how much he was massaging my shoulders."
HBO Max gives you tons of hit shows and movies, from HBO originals shows to DCU movies and more, including "Peacemaker" season 2.
It's a moment of comedic gold and, apparently, Gunn had no recollection that he even set it in motion. "We're [Gunn and Agee] doing a podcast now, a 'Peacemaker' watch-along podcast with James," Agee continued. "James never remembered telling Tim to touch me. I was like, 'Dude, that was 100% your idea.'"
That's not the only scene of another actor messing with Agee in the first five episodes of "Peacemaker" season 2 that Agee said Gunn had a hand in, but unfortunately, I can't go any further without spoiling a future episode, and I'd hate for "Superman" and the Justice Gang to come hunt me down over it.
Suffice to say, though, it's as funny as Agee and Meadows are in this episode, and honestly, you'll probably know it when you see it.
