My mornings are pretty routine: get ready, grab a quick snack, doomscroll for a minute — then check the weather app to see if rain will derail my day.
So I was surprised to learn ChatGPT now has an integrated AccuWeather forecaster. It can answer just about any weather question, with features like MinuteCast and RealFeel that go beyond a basic forecast.
I didn’t think much of AccuWeather when it showed up on devices like Samsung Gear VR years ago, but inside ChatGPT, it actually feels useful — especially in a tool I already use daily right on my phone.
Article continues belowHere’s how to get started.
Easy access
To access AccuWeather through ChatGPT on a desktop or within the mobile app, all you have to do is click on the “+” sign inside the prompt bar (you’ll find it on the left side). Then scroll down to “More” and click on the “AccuWeather” option to activate it. For mobile devices, click on the same + sign, scroll down to “Explore Apps,” download the AccuWeather app, then tap on it from the + sign scroll-down menu to access it for your prompting pleasure.
For an easy prompt to kick things off, I simply asked the AccuWeather app, What does it feel like outside right now? It came back with an assuring reply that let me know that my inner-city setting will be quite comfortable for the moment:
Step outside and it hits you right away — it’s cool and a little crisp, the kind of air that wakes you up without being harsh. It’s around 53°F, but it feels closer to the low 50s (upper 40s in the shade), so there’s a slight chill, especially if you’re not in direct sun. The sky is partly sunny, with clouds drifting in and out, so the light keeps shifting between bright and muted. There’s a light breeze from the southwest, just enough to make it feel fresher but not windy enough to be annoying. One thing you might notice if you’re sensitive: the air quality isn’t great today, so it could feel a bit heavy or irritating if you’re out for a while.

Overall vibe: Light jacket weather, refreshing, early-spring energy — not cold, but not warm enough to relax into yet.
I followed up with the AccuWeather app by asking Is today warmer than usual for late March? This is the answer it came back to me with:
Yeah — today is a bit warmer than usual for late March, but not wildly so. The typical high this time of year is around 52–53°F. Today’s high is pushing ~70°F. So you’re looking at roughly 15–18 degrees above average, which is definitely noticeable — that’s why it feels more like a mild April day than late March.
That said, it’s not record-breaking or anything extreme. NYC can occasionally spike like this in early spring. Think of it as a “preview warm day” rather than a full seasonal shift — especially since cooler air comes right back in tomorrow.
Short version: Yes, warmer than normal — comfortably above average, but not unusual.
Simple prompts
Here’s a collection of other prompts that should do the trick whenever you need some info on the current or future weather forecast in your area:
- What’s the weather today and tonight, and what should I expect at commute times?
- What’s the best 3-hour window to go outside today?
- Do I need a jacket tonight?
- Pick the best day this week for errands.
- Is the air quality okay for a run today?
- When will it start feeling like [season] for real?
- Are there any weather alerts I should be aware of?
- Will it feel colder than the temperature says?
Bottom line
AccuWeather inside ChatGPT proved genuinely useful. I’ll still check my phone’s weather app for a quick forecast, but now I’m also jumping into ChatGPT for deeper insight into how it might impact my commute — and even my mood.
Whether severe weather is on the way or I just need to decide if it’s a sweater day, a quick check with ChatGPT’s AccuWeather gets me there faster.
