Comparing The Performance Of Gigabyte's W251U And W551N Notebooks

The slideshows listed above show you the two Gigabyte notebooks and how they faired in tests with 3DMark05 (graphics processor speed), PCMark05 (CPU, memory and disk drive speed), MobileMark 2005 (performance and battery life when running multitasking office applications). The performance slideshow also shows you the results of our Display Brightness and Contrast Tests, which demonstrate the excellent evenness of brightness and contrast of the displays on both of the Gigabyte notebooks.

Sometimes it's interesting to compare two similar, but also different notebook computers from the same vendor to get an idea which one of them might work best for you. Here we look at Gigabyte's very nice W251U (12.1" display) and W551N (15.4" display) notebooks. The W251U is roughly 12" x 9" and a little over 4 pounds, while the W551N measures about 14" x 10" and weighs a tad over 6 pounds. Both have Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs. The W551N features an Nvidia GeForce Go 7400 graphic processor. For more on the features of these two notebook computers see the Features table on the next page.
