PCMark05 Benchmarks
9. PCMark05 Benchmarks
Like SYSmark 2004 SE, PCMark05 is all about performance. PCMark05 includes an overall system test suite and test suites that focus on the CPU, memory, graphics and hard disk drives. If any part of a test suite cannot run or fails, a PCMark05 score is not computed for that suite.
PCMark scores are scaled to run between 1200 and 5500. Low and high end reference systems are used to scale and compute the low (1200) and high (5500) scores. However, scores less than 1200 and greater than 5500 are possible
Here are the charts showing PCMark05 scores for the Fujitsu Lifebook B6110D and the Toshiba Portege R200.

PCMark05 Performance Benchmarks Conclusions
Except for their hard disk drives, the Fujitsu Lifebook B6110D and the Toshiba Portege R200 perform equally well on the PCMark05 benchmark tests. The hard disk drive benchmark supports our observation that the Lifebook's drive was noticeably faster than the Toshiba's due to the Lifebook disk's faster access time of 12ms as opposed to the Portege disk's 15ms access time.
PCMark05 shows the graphics performance of both computers to be very poor. The good news is that the Intel 915GM and 915GMS graphics chipsets used respectively in the Fujitsu and Toshiba laptops provide support for more complex graphics functions. Our reference computer, the Acer TravelMate 2304LCi's chipset does not have this functionality, the result being that the PCMark05 graphics test cannot be run on the 2304LCi. That is why there are no system or graphics benchmarks for the Acer.
