11. Conclusions
In choosing between the Fujitsu B6110D and the Toshiba Portege R200 the most important considerations are battery life, weight, sturdiness and warranty. The Toshiba is noticeably lighter and it has the best warranty, three years as opposed to the Fujitsu's one year. The Fujitsu has the best battery life, a heftier case and chassis and is heavier. A good deal of the Lifebook B6110D's weight disadvantage comes from the tradeoffs Fujitsu made in order to provide longer battery life and a sturdier case and chassis.
A good deal of the Lifebook B6110D's weight disadvantage comes from the tradeoffs Fujitsu made in order to provide longer battery life and a sturdier case and chassis. The laptop's 2.5" 60 GB drive, as opposed to the Toshiba's 40 GB 1.8" drive, also accounts for some of the Fujitsu's heavier weight. However, the Toshiba can be had with a 60 GB 1.8" drive so putting a larger drive in the Toshiba wouldn't alter its weight advantage much if at all.
If you need a more rugged laptop with longer battery life and can live with the nearly half pound extra weight and shorter warranty of the Fujitsu, it is the one for you. If you want a very light laptop with a 12.1" display, are okay with shorter but still very good battery life and are willing to take a few precautions in handling your laptop, go for the Toshiba.
