3. How It Works

Once the Harmony charger-dock is powered and connected to your computer and the 890 is in the charger-dock, you're ready to launch the setup software. This requires that you create a login ID and password. This may seem like a lot of extra work just to program a remote, but trust me there are good reasons for the login ID and password.

The setup software associates your Harmony with your login ID. As you create devices and build Activities, related data is protected by your ID and password. These also give you access to the Harmony online device remote control spec database.

Let's trek through a typical device set up process.

First you have to log in with your user ID and password.

At this point you can add devices. I've started entering a TV device in the screen capture below. This is a demonstration only. We'll work with my actual devices later on.
