12. Performance Summary

Our tests confirm the claims we made in our preview article earlier this year - the Dell Inspiron XPS Gen 2's performance is the best we've seen so far in the notebook space. Its horsepower can take on many high-end desktops as well.

It creams the Acer Ferrari 4000 , for example. Granted the Acer is a thin and light with some good gaming speed, but the winner is clearly the Dell XPS Gen 2.

The horsepower of the Go 6800 Ultra is also unmatched. Almost six months have passed, and it is almost time for the next edition of mobile graphics. It is only a matter of time before we see something new but for the time being the crown is firmly in the NVIDIA camp. The competition for the high end segment is brutal. But as it is for those of us who watch hockey or football, it might be tough out there on the field but it is entertaining for those of us in the bleachers.

Conclusion

The XPS Gen 2 is the notebook of choice for power hungry mobile users. With its fast Intel Pentium M 770 processor and super fast NVIDIA Go 6800 Ultra graphics engine it is a performance champion. All this speed and the XPS Gen 2's cool design make it the I-want-it-now notebook for the coming back-to-school and holiday season. For these reasons we present THG's Must Have Award to the Dell Inspiron XPS Gen 2.
