19. 3D Sound And Games

The DJ Console is not geared for games or 3D sound. Its main handicap for these functions is the limitations posed by the USB port link.In Direct Sound 2D, processor occupancy is 6.7% and goes up to 30% in Direct Sound 3D! Of course, this is a software emulation, since the DJ Console is not hardwired for 3D sound. So, if you are a gamer, this is not really for you. You almost certainly have a better sound circuit on your computer, so it's best to unplug the DJ Console for such purposes.

The DJ Console does, however, serve as a viable sound card for games, and in some cases, outperforms many sound cards on the market. But the playing field is not level because you can't expect to get the same sound effects as you can from more advanced cards; for instance, the DJ Console is not EAX-compatible. It delivers a basic service which may be adequate, but no way near top quality.
