Your slim is nearly here.
When Sony unveiled the PS3 Slim, it didn't give us a hard launch day. Instead, we were just told that it'd start filling retail channels by September.
Essentially, it seems that as soon as retailers get them in stock, they may start selling them. The only question is, then, when will the newly redesigned consoles be shipping out?
If Amazon's shipping details are to be believed, as reported by Engadget, then we'll buyers will start seeing their PS3 Slims sent out on August 26. Whether or not this is an undisclosed "street date" is unknown, but those of you waiting for the new hardware before taking the plunge should be able to get yours sometime this week if you're lucky.
Let us know if you see anything popping up on retail shelves!

But I will say this, the price drop and the fact that this newer unit runs cooler and uses less power has me considering selling the current one and buying this one. MAN that thing puts out some heat - very noticeable in the summer.
I can tell you that the PS3 slim has no street date at Best Buy, at least according to what our inventory system says.

Well they already did state a couple: no BC, no Linux, non user serviceable hard drive. To some, the lack of these features makes it a no-go for them.
