Belkin TuneCast II For iPod
2. Belkin TuneCast II For iPod
- F8V3080-APL TuneCast...

The TuneCast II works with any MP3 player, the sound is good and it works both inside a car and out.
The TuneCast packs up neatly; the sound cable wraps around the case and clips on, and the power cord unplugs. It's a little less tidy in use, though, because the sound cable comes from the side and the power from the base. It takes two AAA batteries, so you can use it at home or in the park, and you can also use it without batteries in the car by connecting the cigarette lighter adapter. There's even an extra cable, so that if you have Belkin's iPod car charger, you can power both devices from one socket. And even though it's labeled "for iPod", it plugs into any device with a headphone jack.
If you're using batteries, the TuneCast turns itself off to save power if it doesn't detect an audio signal. This means that you have to set things up in the right order, but when you unplug the sound cable it turns off automatically. The sound quality from the headphone jack is nowhere near as good as that of a line out signal - sounds that are crisp on line out transmitters are fuzzy and dull. That said, the transmission strength is enough to cope with signals on nearby frequencies, and the sound is good compared to most FM radio stations. It only pales when you've heard what your iPod can do through its dock connection.
