1. Introduction

The remix is not just a passing fad, as some people once said about the Internet. The notion that remixing is cool is very apparent in pop culture - everyone wants to make the next hot remix. Even Sprite has remixed its original recipe with "Sprite Remix."

The technology involved in remixing music has come a long way from the old sampler with ten seconds' worth of RAM, making things easier than ever for artists looking to manipulate and restructure sound. There are already many powerful tools that allow you to make a remix quickly and easily. Ministry of Sound's StikAx is one of the many products aimed at remixers, but is it a good buy, or a total rip-off?
