We measure battery life under three different conditions to simulate typical usage situations. First, we run a presentation in an endless loop. This approximates typical usage by a traveling salesman making frequent presentations to his or her customers. Frequent travelers appreciate being able to pass the time watching a DVD video in the hotel or airport lounge. To do this, you need a mobile PC with respectable battery life. Our last test - a game demo - will be of interest to the gamers among our readers. The demo is repeated until the battery is empty.

We also looked into how the different PowerMizer settings affected 3-D performance and battery life. We obtained our measurements using Quake III, the demo of 3D Mark2001SE, and a screen saver presentation.
