Apple Sends Invites for September Press Event

- By - Source : Tom's Guide US

Apple has announced that it will hold a press event on September 1 at 10 a.m. in the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco.

Earlier this week, there were reports that Apple would announce its new Apple TV platform at a September 7 event. However, though Apple has confirmed an event, it's not on September 7 and it certainly doesn't look like an Apple TV event.

Apple usually holds an iPod event in September and, though it's very likely we'll see the next iteration of the iPod touch, it's not looking good for an Apple TV announcement as the invitations feature a guitar with an Apple logo for a sound-hole. It's possible Steve and his cronies will announce Apple TV and are just keeping things under wraps until the very last second. Nothing to do but wait and see.

Rumors for this year's iPod touch include dual cameras, and a retina display similar to the one present on the iPhone 4.

Stay tuned for more!

Is every reviewer that attends going to raise their hands in praise and cry out, "It's magical! Oh so magical!"???
Or will they be a tad more sober in their analysis of the pseudo-religious event?
Here's hopin for all those boys and girls who get the invite...

Well considering that it has been out for a while, I would say that was a poor choice on your part.

Possibly, you may be able to return it?

As the rumor mill churns so do the iPhans restless in their beds wondering what their god will bless them with next.

Joking aside apple hasn't really invented anything new and great with the newer generation technology. Video chat as this new cellular technolgoy, umm see nokia circa y2k. I would expect nothing less than an iphone 4 without an antena for $100 less, same as all the other ipod touch's. In other news.... nothing to see here without apple tv.

I wonder what else they're going to tell us that we're holding wrong.

With all the "Tom's Hardware-loves-apple-products subliminally" articles posted on here over the past year I sure hope it paid off to get Tom's employees or at least one Tom's employee an invite to this press event. I would be surprised if they didn't get one and would have to resort to covering the event through the grapevine.

They're going to announce an iPod shuffle that doesn't have ANY buttons. It will be controlled by temperature. To skip to the next song, you squeeze it in your hand. To pause, you blow on it. To select the next playlist, you stick it under your arm. And finally, to shut it off, you shove it up your... well anyway, you get the idea.

Maybe Apple TV will take off like the ipad. Microsoft will then announce that MicroTV will be top priority, until someone tells balmer that Microsoft has had media center for years. And that they just forgot to market it. DOH!

Apple TV is for suckers that don't know any better. I have over 500 movies and over 1200 recordings on two HTPC's.

Why Microsoft doesn't put more effort into media center is beyond reason. They will wait until Apple markets their product and then try to play catch up with a product that has worked great in my home for 4 years. Too bad nobody seems to know about Media center.
