Microsoft Dubs iPhone 4 as Apple's Windows Vista
Oh, snap!
No doubt busy with Windows Phone 7, its new mobile OS set for launch at the end of the year, Microsoft has kept pretty quiet about iPhone 4. However, it seems one Microsoft executive couldn't resist making just one smug remark about Apple's latest iPhone.
Speaking at the company's Worldwide Partner Conference, COO Kevin Turner compared the iPhone 4 to the not-so-popular Windows Vista and told audience members not to worry about iPhone 4-esque issues happening with Windows Phone 7.
"One of the things I want to make sure you know today is that you're going to be able to use a Windows Phone 7 and not have to worry about how you're holding it to make a phone call," he is quoted as saying. He later added, "It looks like the iPhone 4 might be their Vista, and I'm okay with that."
Turner seemed confident that Windows Phone 7 could take on the iPhone and do some damage to its position in the smartphone market.
"The iPhone's position isn't unassailable," Turner said, according to Computer World. "We're back in the game, and this game is not over."

Truth hurts but microsoft is right on that.
I love reading stories about Apple failing.
Its the apps that make the iPhone attractive...As long as Windows phone 7 will have a half decent app store that is easy to use and developers embrace it, I wouldn't mind picking one up and ditching apple's closed system...
Agree, Microsoft could very well get a pretty big share of the market if they make it easier WP7 easy to use and easy to develops aps for
And the wheel of fortune lands on tax $200 instead of bailout or easy street.
Funny comparison but true.
So what is Apple's Windows ME?
So what is Apple's Windows ME?
Steve Jobs?
I like MS but they're not doing their reputation any good by boasting "ha ha, you failed just like us!". Many of their customers are still very upset about Vista.

Over using i in-front of everything.
Apples Me.... LOL I love it. Apple sucks, but never as hard as mucrosuck.
So Iphone 5 is going to dominate like Windows 7, great!
I actually prefer a closed system for a phone, as long as a good variety of apps is available and you can get a devkit for not much money.
I'm not interested in getting malware on my phone, or on software that crashes. On my PC that is a different matter, but on my phone, I want the OS protected.
As for the antenna problem, it certainly is an issue for some, but I haven't had a dropout yet, I guess I just don't hold my phone that way or our coverage is good enough.

It's like all those Republicans who say the BP oil spill is Obama's Katrina. What is Apple's "Mission Accomplished" or "falling from a segway" or "choking on a pretzel?"
the picture is so win and full of lulz!
no one wants to read political commentary here, especially from the liberal village idiot
or "choking on a pretzel?"
Choking on a pretzel, TWICE...
@microsoftman
Please tell me what security services iphones come with?
The system is closed in that only crapple approved apps make it to their marketplace and supposedly work well with non-jailbroken phones. They limit what the developers can do, hence a closed system. Not like an open system where anyone can write anything for the system. Being closed doesn't mean being secure. You can still pick up malware from going to a website.
Sorry, not true. People actually want the iPhone, no matter how it performs. I can't think of anyone that wanted Vista after it came out.

I think you might be missing the point here...

Now you've got one. You'll never be able to say that again.
Over using i in-front of everything.
No...no... That would be apples Windows Phone 7 Series
I love reading stories about Apple failing.
Considering how many iphone 4s they've sold I wouldn't consider it a "fail".
i see a day when microsoft says apple has their kin
Jacobdrj, what point is he missing? What killer apps are available from the Android store that isn't available on the Apple store? Spike53, are you honestly saying that the Android etc. is more secure than the iPhone? Of course having the apps closed off makes a phone more secure, otherwise anyone can write an app that turns out to be malware or a virus.
I don't want to have to run antivirus software on my phone, I get enough hassles with that on my PC.
Having a closed system on a phone makes sense to me personally, and I haven't yet had any reception problems with my iPhone, it is performs slightly better than my Nokia E71 did as far as reception goes, but maybe the service is just better here in Australia.
Honestly, there is an app for everything I want, and for $100 I bought the developers kit and am writing my own. I do think they need to revise the antenna as some people obviously are having problems, but I'm not having any. They give you your money back anyway if you don't like the phone.
The day they open up the apps to let anything run that anyone releases on the phone will be the day I look for another closed OS. Same as a Xbox360 or PS3, you just want the programs to run without worrying about compatibilty or viruses. For my PC, I'll stick with Linux, I'm happy to experiment there, but on my phone...not so much.
Oh and can we actually discuss stuff like adults? I get tired of seeing people write Crapple and microshaft etc. It is old and makes us sound like 12 year olds.
If the iPhone 4 is Windows Vista, what does that make the Kin? Apple Lisa?
I am here to say that winmo 7 is also a close system. The only open phone os is from google.
I will admit it sometimes felt like I had to use scotch tape to make my release copy of Vista work when I wanted it to.
Let me get this straight... he's admitting Vista sucked? and he thinks that somehow doesn't make Microsoft look bad as well? “Silly rabbit, tricks are for kids”.
Hah, MS nailed it right! BTW, they should focus on their new OS, for if it ain't good, it would be apple's turn to say: Windows Phone 7 is like our iPhone 4!
Oh wait, I forgot that Apple doesn't ever accept their mistakes! So they will say: Windows Phone 7 is like windows vista.
