5. DVD Performance

When connected to the Oppo OPDV971H DVD player via the HDMI input, the HP SLC3760N produced very good results, similar to HDTV sources. Colors were very accurate, and contrast was very good for an LCD. There was a touch of video noise, but that is to be expected when viewing a 480p source with reduced detail, compared to HD sources. I found backing up maybe a foot or two took care of this issue.

As you can see from this comparison of The Fifth Element below, color saturation is excellent, and flesh tones are just about identical to the reference image. The shadow detail on the left portion of the image is actually good compared to many other LCD displays.

Color

As mentioned earlier, the color performance of the HP SLC3760N was excellent, regardless of source. Colors within film-based material were relaxed and life-like, and live broadcast material had a great deal of punch and excellent saturation. Once calibrated, flesh tones were very natural regardless of source.
