5. Very Clear Labeling Of The Ports And Connectors

HP has garnered well-earned praise again for their labeling of ports and connectors with the nx6125. The high-contrast symbols on the top side of the housing shows clearly where each connector is located.

In the majority of notebooks, the labeling is only shown on the side of the housing. If you are looking for a particular port, then you have to tip or turn the machine. The user can't clearly see where the port is situated from above.

On the right hand side you have a DVD burner from LG and the connection for the internal 56K modem.

Where optical drives are concerned, HP has attached a dual-layer burner from LG. Now DVDs can be burned at up to 8x, and DVD RWs up to 4x. Unlike the Compaq nc8230, the burner of the nx6125 is fixed in place. That means it can't be replaced by another hard drive like the nc8230 can.

The monitor socket, one Firewire and two USB 2.0 ports and the audio socket are placed outside on the left.

As a special feature, the nx6125 comes with an Express Card 54 slot and a PC card slot. Express-Card is the new I/O card standard for notebooks and desktop PCs and should overtake the card bus standard in the medium term. Express cards will be available in two different sizes.
