28. Summary

You'll learn to appreciate HP's nx6125, whether you're a small business user or are "merely" one of the cost-conscious end-users out there. This portable PC represents HP's successful attempt to pair the cutting edge technology of an AMD Turion 64 chip and ATI's RADEON XPRESS 200M with an attractive, extremely stabile and functional case. What's more, this laptop goes about its tasks very quietly.
In addition, the nx6125 has all the usual features that one has come to expect from a modern notebook. And, as if all this wasn't enough, HP adds a comprehensive security package including a fingerprint sensor. You'll shake your head when you get to the cash register, since this piece of gadgetry starts at a mere $1,000 (€1,000). The model we tested had more features and ran for $1,400 (€1,200) (MSR), which in our opinion is still quite a deal. Don't expect an absolute desktop PC replacement, though, due to the nx6125's rather poor performance in 3D graphic display. The performance is absolutely up to snuff, however, to carry out normal business and office applications quickly and quietly.
This laptop falls short in terms of battery life, though. A bit over two hours per battery charge is not exactly stunning for a laptop equipped with a 53Wh battery.
Of course, the low price of the nx6125 has to be paid for somehow. It comes shipped from HP with just the Home Edition of Windows XP. And the software application package is a bit anemic, featuring the less-than-stellar burning software Sonic RecordNow, and Intervideo's WinDVD Player and WinDVD Creator.
We can't say for certain whether the nx6125 is the best Turin 64 laptop on the market. But it certainly is a very good and very quiet Turion 64 notebook.
