The considerably higher mechanical stresses a notebook hard drive is subjected to during travel represent yet another risk to your data, thus making the hard drive more susceptible to mechanical defects. The risk of a head crash can be minimized with an optimized hard drive suspension intended to minimize the vibrations of the drive and its mechanical components; or through a mechanism for actively parking the hard drive's read/write heads to prevent a head crash as the result of shock. Nevertheless, regular backup - to an external data medium, obviously, which is best left at home - provides the only real protection against data loss.
Altiris's Local Recovery software, which HP ships with the nx6125, offers at best a kind of protection against "inappropriate" user actions. Following an "inadvertent" program installation, Altiris is able to restore the system to its "old" condition simply by using a previously taken snapshot of the hard drive, virtually with the press of a button.

Maintenance of the machine also couldn't be any easier: Simply establish an Internet connection and press the HP Info Center button located to the left above the keyboard. A single mouse click takes you to HP's help and support Website.

The HP Infocenter: Direct access to important system and security functions, as well as to driver updates and a help center.
There, the most recent driver updates, for example, can be downloaded with a few mouse clicks.
