14. The Integrated Fingerprint Sensor And Security Suite
The risk of data loss is considerably higher for a notebook than it is for a desktop PC. A traveler's notebook can be snatched quickly or subjected in an unguarded moment to unauthorized tampering.
You could prevent such data loss or espionage by chaining your notebook to yourself or never letting it out of your sight. Or you could place your bets on a multi-level security concept that interlocks a fingerprint sensor with a security suite. HP has integrated both into the nx6125.

A fingerprint scanner provides added security
The security concept has levels ranging from the "simple" option of setting a password to protect the system from unauthorized access when the system boots up, to a feature implemented in the BIOS that encrypts the contents of the hard drive and user authentication with the integrated fingerprint sensor.

Hard drive theft is pointless: HP Drivelock encrypts the hard drive contents at the BIOS level.
All active security functions, as well as the BIOS settings, are controlled through the Credential Manager within the HP Protect Tools suite for Windows.

Full and easy monitoring of security functions: The HP Protect Tools Security Manager
The user's fingerprints are also registered in the Security Manager. As so-called "authentication credentials," these fingerprints then assume the function of passwords. Authentication using fingerprints can also be combined with a password. In principle, therefore, the entire system or individual files or folders can be protected from unauthorized access. But access via fingerprint to password-protected Websites or to a network is also possible and considerably more convenient.
