Google Sets UK Office on Fire with Barbecue

Employees housed in Google's UK office were evacuated yesterday due to a fire on the roof of the building.
Around 5,000 people (including Google staff and employees of other businesses in the area) were yesterday evacuated as fire broke out on the roof garden at the company's UK HQ. A result of a barbecue and first reported by the Daily Telegraph, the fire was extinguished a little more than an hour after fire fighters arrived. A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade told the Daily Telegraph that there were four fire engines and 20 fire fighters in attendance.
ITProPortal cites a spokesman as saying, “We have free food for staff at our offices and today was a barbecue day. We were having a barbecue on the patio where the fire started. There was no serious damaged to the building and thankfully no one was hurt. We're all back in the offices now.”

The geek-factor probably played a huge role in this. You're talking about an internet giant's employees. These guys are used to sitting around the computer. They don't often fire up the grill and watch the ball game (regardless of which nation they reside in).
