1. Test Candidates Compared

In a companion article we presented the technology and features of the new Sony TX series. Now we will continue our look at these new laptops with some performance benchmarks.
For TX models in the USA Sony uses a naming convention that begins with TX and ends with P, for example TX670P. This is the model we refer you to through TG Stores. The TX model we evaluate here uses a European naming convention and is called the TX1XP. You will find all of the features of the TX1XP and wireless WAN capability in the TX670P.
For comparison's sake, we selected ultra lightweight laptops from Averatec, Fujitsu and Toshiba, as well as another model from Sony itself. The VAIO VGN-T350P is a US model of the predecessor TX series, which includes a built-in WAN module supporting GPRS/EDGE mobile packet data services.
