Little rubber pads on the bottom of the swivel base help make the stand stable and prevent it from sliding around.

It's easy to move your laptop into the right angle for viewing thanks to the swivel base. Even with heavy portable PCs like the Mayhem G3, the Kensington Laptop Desktop USB 2.0 proved perfectly stable. However, as the following photo shows, not much air is left between the keyboard and the stand with devices of that stature (height of 1.10 inches). For this reason, accidental activation of the function buttons cannot be ruled out when using units of that size.

The height is easily adjustable in six positions. All you have to do is to slightly lift the top part of the laptop holder, and push the button on the far right-hand side of the hinge. This hinge connects the base and the upper part of the notebook stand. Now you can tilt the upper part forwards or backwards as desired to raise or lower the notebook's position. As soon as you release the button, a spring in the hinge switch automatically locks the unit in place.
