PlayStation 3 Plays Crysis 2 Better Than Xbox 360
They may look the same, but the developers say the PS3 is handling Crysis 2 a bit better than the Xbox 360.
Crysis 2 is going to look the best on the PC, without any doubt. But if you're not up to spending hundreds more for a PC that can play it at the visual quality you want, then the next best option is a console. Crytek promises awesome graphics even for those playing on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, but if you have the choice between the two platforms, the latter could be the stronger one.
Typically, developers get better results from the Xbox 360 when making a multiplatform game, thanks to Microsoft's friendlier development platform. Crytek, however, hasn't been seeing the same sort of thing that most other developers do.
"We haven't found it more difficult to develop for PS3," Crytek's business development boss Carl Jones told PSM3, according to CVG. "We're lucky in the fact that we've come to the generation slightly later than other people - the ones who were trying to build the first technology and games were surprised at how different the PS3 was. We took our time and worked out the right way to approach it."
"At the moment, we're getting slightly more performance from PS3 compared to 360," Jones said. "I'm very confident that products using CryEngine 3 are going to come out as the best looking, or at least in the top three, on every platform."
Visually, however, those who have seen it say that the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions look virtually identical; but no doubt that there will be comparisons galore once the game hits stores.

well hasnt the ps3 been mooing better specs for a while and considering it was released over a year after xbox released it should be higher spec..
looks like the dawn of ps3 has finally started to come of age..
Video killed the radio Star
Consoles are killing PC gaming
I hope i'm wrong of course.
^sadly no. You are not wrong!
what a surprise! -.-
This is hardly a surprise given that the PS3 is potentially more powerful than the 360, but it takes an awful lot of work to harness that potential.
Either way I don't care because Crysis 2 isn't touching my PS3 - it's mouse and keyboard crossfire 5870s all the way.
As long as there are MMO's, RTS's, and RPG's the PC will never die. FPS's may dwindle, but then they're a dime a dozen anyways (plus the only good ones anymore are from Valve, which seems to be committed to the PC via Steam).
Its about time someone has coded a game right for it...all the other are limited by the 360. The ones that haven’t look beautiful aka Killzone 2 and MAG is just awesome.
it's mouse and keyboard with a ATI 5670 video card it the only way to play!
COnsole are for kids!
I would gather it's the PS3's cell processor that is the culprit. The graphics chip on the PS3 was known to be slightly inferior to the Xbox360's but the cell processor was touted as extremely powerful when used to its full potential.
It is certainly about time the PS3's cell showed its teeth but until both versions are completed, released and then compared/reviewed, we won't know for sure.
PCs will rule...still
especially for anything that needs graphic quality
I can't wait for rabid fanboys saying how 133t their console is and how dismal is.
Ok, you bought a console. They are not cheap considered your buying power, so you want to comfort yourself by thinking you made the best choice. Comforting yourself includes talking trash about the other console, because obviously it makes yours look better.
You'll probably get that there is no obvious wrong choice when you are finally 12.
That makes me so glad I have a PC.
For me.. crysis 2 isn't even on my radar for at least another year... because by then the hardware that will play it @ full potential will be cheap enough for me to buy.. and the game will be in the $20 bargain bin.. so win win for me.

The day steam move onto console platforms is indeed the greatest blow to be delivered to us PC gaiz

You can use a mouse and keyboard on the PS3, so it should just be: "- it's crossfire 5870s all the way"
What is the point of this article other than to feed fanboy trolls?

I meant "how dismal the other console is".
Why don't I get the edit button in the forum view? It did recognize i was logged in.

I have a 360, PS3, Wii, and a gaming computer. PS3 > 360 < comp. Then it just comes down to control preference really.

You can use a mouse and keyboard on the PS3
Yeah, but other than the Orange Box what other FPS games accept mouse-keyboard as input?
And yet Crytek has also said, while they look "the same," that experts will be able to see differences. And lo and behold there are. e.g. the PS3 is rendering their GI hack at half resolution. Why? Because it is sloooow, so slow the only way to be competitive in performance was to cut quality. (See the CryEngine 3 PDFs for details). As for talking up versions, this is an important part of being a middleware distributor. The end product will tell the tale and I don't expect Crytek to be much different from other 3rd parties who have talked up their PS3 versions.

Just to correct some of your statement, GPU on xbox360 is actually better than the ps3's, BUT if devs make use of the cell processor fully..this will be the other way round.
Great. It's not touching my PS3 or Gaming rig. Crysis is horrible.

This really doesn't come as a surprise to me.

And I so totally agree with that. Cell-processing on the PS3 is the big advantage on the PS3 and, if correctly taken advantage of, can and will kick the Xbox 360's ass.

your comment is irrelevant since no one has yet to come forward with negative remarks about neither consoles or PCs, it seems as if you're the one trying to instigate something...
Can't wait to play it on PC when it released...
I was not waiting for fanboy wars on this forum, jose. This particular piece of news is likely to make its way to other specific gaming sites (aggregated on n4g.com) where console wars is the norm. That is where I expect to see asinine comments, not here.
I apologize for the confusion.
Marcus, you should be banned for trolling for posting a headline like that! I predict a record-breaking console war on this one...
Crytek does a great job, they work hard to get the most out of the platform. That pumps me up.
The PS3 still has a lot of untapped power, but the PC has more!
Lets see Crytek tap them both!
Better on PS3 blah blah blah, more power on PC blah blah blah.
Let's see the game run on a PC with specs that are comparable to a ps3 or xbox 360.
