13. Simply Video, Continued

MovieFactory 3 is more specifically dedicated to the creation of DVD, VCD or SVCD discs. It also supports creation of slideshow discs and direct recording to DVD (using recordable DVDs!). You can also create interactive DVDs. There are many options but there are also repeats of some functions available in VideoStudio, as you see again recording and other editing functions that are almost identical - yet occasionally not as good. Here the principal aim is to create actual discs by manipulating a virtual image of them (like files on your hard drive). If you want to create a DVD, a default menu is displayed automatically (you can dismiss this if you want to). The process is very simple, especially if you're happy with the standard formats suggested (which you can modify as well!). To record video, you can rely on defaults settings but various options can be selected to get the exact result you want. We didn't come across any problems and our DVDs were written at 8X without a single hitch. Everything (hard drive containing the files and recorder) was connected via USB 2.0 to Video Editor.

Naturally, as always with video, you need to make sure that there's enough disc space but with today's discs that's not likely to be problem!

At startup, MovieFactory offers several options.

You can record with MovieFactory but if you've made your movie with VideoStudio you just need to open the file.
