7. Familiar Software, Continued

Obviously, the Notebook can play even the most elaborate DVD-Audio disks (24 bits/192 kHz); it's too bad the player wasn't built into the normal Mediasource player.

DVD-Audio can be played in 5.1 mode at a resolution of 24 bits/96 kHz.

In stereo mode, some DVD-Audio disks can be played at 24 bits/192 kHz.

Obviously Mediasource still has its functions for managing your music library, letting you rip, convert (to MP3 or other formats) and burn CDs. Smart Recorder simplifies recording and also has a programming function. For example, you can automatically record a radio program.

Smart Recorder can even set the recording level automatically!

You can set a recording duration and the software will stop recording automatically.

Smart Recorder can also program recordings - of a radio broadcast, for example.

Obviously you might think it would have been a good idea to include a software DVD player, but you may well have gotten one with your laptop. Then all you need to do is configure the audio in "S/PDIF In/Out" for the Notebook to do the decoding (Dolby Digital or DTS).

Don't forget to configure your software DVD player to let the Audigy Notebook do the decoding.
