10.3 Billion iOS Apps Will Be Downloaded in 2011

- By - Source : Tom's Guide US

Apple iOS users are expected to be downloading a staggering 10.3 billion applications in 2011, resulting in App Store revenue of $2.91 billion, IHS iSuppli said today.

The market research firm believes that Apple will account for about three fourths of app revenue this year, leading Android Market by a substantial margin. Growth is estimated to be only 63.4%, while Android is expected to jump by 295% to $425 million of sales and 5.8 billion downloads. RIM's Blackberry App World is projected to come in third, with 772 million downloads and sales of $279 million. Nokia's Ovi Store is in fourth place with 1.1 billion downloads and $201 billion in revenue. There was no data about Microsoft's app store.

In 2011, mobile users will download a total of 18.1 billion apps, up from 9.5 billion in 2010, IHS iSuppli said. In 2014, the company estimates, users will download more than 33 billion apps.

Total app revenue for 2011 is expected to hit about $3.8 billion, up 77.7% from 2010's $2.1 billion.

Are these articles written and editted by Kids? "Nokia's Ovi Store is in fourth place with 1.1 billion downloads and $201 billion in revenue." Tell me, what is wrong with the sentence?

I guess iOS apps cost more on average? 10.3 billion iOS app downloads=$2.7B, but 5.8 billion Android app downloads=$425M?
