Rock Band 2 Set For September Release
Just eight months after the release of the original Rock Band video game, Harmonix, MTV Games and Electronic Arts have announced the release of Rock Band 2.
The companies say that the last 8 months have given them the time to really listen to fans and claims that Rock Band 2 is going to bring music games to the next level.
MTV also announced the success of the first version of Rock Band, stating that with more than 200 tracks available, the Rock Band online music store recently surpassed 15 million paid downloads since the game’s launch in late November 2007.
Perhaps the best news of all for owners of the original title is that Rock Band 2 will be fully compatible with the original instruments as well as the original Rock Band songs that are available for download.
While it’s slated for a September release, this date is specifically for Rock Band 2 on Xbox 360 and the press release mentions no dates for releases on other platforms other than “later in year.”
It also looks like other than what the company has already said in relation to an Xbox release and compatibility, Harmonix is going to keep under wraps other information until this summer’s E3 Conference, which is taking place from the 15th to the 17th of July.
Fans of musical videogames can also look forward to the next installment of Activision’s competing band game, Guitar Hero: World Tour, slated for release in time for the holidays this year.
