Google Advisor Found Dead in Pool
Google advisor and Stanford computer science professor, Rajeev Motwani died late last week, aged 47.
The Associated Press reports that the Motwani was found dead in his swimming pool late on Thursday night. Friends have said that he was unable to swim.
A blog post from Sergey Brin mourns the sudden passing of Motwani. Painting him as an unofficial advisor, teacher and good friend, Brin writes that in addition to being a brilliant computer scientist, Rajeev was a very kind and amicable person, who’s door was always open.
“When Larry and I began to work together on the research that would lead to Google, Rajeev was there to support us and guide us through challenges, both technical and organizational,” writes the Google co-founder. “Rajeev remained a friend and advisor as he has with many people and startups since. Of all the faculty at Stanford, it is with Rajeev that I have stayed the closest and I will miss him dearly.”
Rest in peace Rajeev Motwani.

I feel bad for the guy... but man this is going to be on some talk show jabbing at how computer guys are such nerds and can't even swim.
if he couldn't swim, why on earth did he buy a house with a swimming pool?
with all that money, at least he could have taken some beginner swimming lessons....
i find it hard to believe that such a smart person is unable to swim, but if he was like Stephen Hawking then i would understand.
He was swiming alone when he can't swim????
This seems a little suspicious.
Why the hell would he be in a pool if he can't swim?
Maybe a yahoo thug did him in.
Very strange. RIP.
Maybe he was murdered?
Maybe he was murdered?
On the same week as the release of Bing! Do I smell a conspiracy.
This is almost as weird as David Carradine's death.
Was he naked aswell?
He may have had a wife/girlfriend or children that swim... having a pool doesn't mean it was for *HIM* necessarily.

I have a tricycle in my garage and a trampoline in my back yard. Neither is for me.
i don't think the problem was not being able to swim, rather not being able to breath under water!
I wish I had a pool I can drown in.
Lucky bastard.
Maybe I'm missing the point.
On a serious note, sounds like he was a decent cat and his passing will affect some people. Sucks all around.
Ahh but put them together and you've got a fun filled afternoon at the hospital. What could go wrong?
He could be trying for the coveted Darwin award!
Brin writes that in addition to being a brilliant computer scientist, Rajeev was a very kind and amicable person, who’s door was always open.
Well there's the problem right there. He should've locked his door!
so in other words, he was creating something that was a threat to today corporate engine called America and someone had him killed....
A little strange that a guy who can not swim to be around a swimming pool by himself. I understand having a pool, for friends and family to use, but if you cannot swim I would not be anywhere near a pool by myself. Just in case you know. Probably was an accident, despite how it sounds. Was wet and slipped into the pool. Either way. RIP.
Neighbors who contacted the police reference a bouquet of flowers that had been sitting on the doorstep for weeks. They had arrived one day before the death took place. The rotting of the flowers over the past week created a tremendous stench leading neighbors to contact authorities. The flowers were reportedly sent by Redmond's Microsoft Corporation.
When asked about the flowers, a Microsoft representative expressed his heart-felt condolences. When questioned about the early arrival, he explained that they had been notified of the Google Adviser's death through their new search engine: Bing! He declined to elaborate on how Bing! could have saved the world from the current economic meltdown caused by Google...
Sounds really fishy to be honest even if he couldn't swim doesn't seem like a unintelligent fellow to just run around the pool, really sounds like someone put the hit on him
, poor family.
Accidents happen.
Sorry to hear this.
Google is a religion to me.
Google has always been there, even when ym family and friends haven't.
Google always gives me the answer I need as long as I learn how to ask correctly.
Google has spoiled me with a search, translator, images, and video hosting.
You are part of Google, and thus I will miss you.
He should have googled, "How to swim."
Was he wearing his googles....oops, I meant goggles?
(Sorry, couldn't resist, had to do it)
