So amid all the Pre rumors, folks have been fingering a price point somewhere around $300. Expensive, huh?
Paying three hundred bucks on top of what you’re going to fork out every month for data, calls and texts is not cheap. For those of you who refuse to pay such a high price for a phone, there’s a solution that will bag you a free Pre.
Palm is now taking applications for its "Real Palm Phone Reviewer" promotional campaign. Basically, you apply to become a real Palm Phone Reviewer and Palm sends you a shiny new phone and covers your data-plan service for 6 months. Alright so that’s not the whole deal, you actually have to review the phone and share your thoughts about the device and its features via the social networks and blogs you frequent the most.*
While this sounds suspiciously like a deal that would apply to everything but the new Pre, that’s not the case. According to Palm’s Jon Zilber, the Pre is included in this promotion. Responding to one commenter he said that the Pre would be on offer, where available.
“Philip -- we'll work to provide Real Reviewers with the most current phones that work on their carrier (or provide service on an alternate carrier). That will include the Palm Pre when available.”
Now that it's completely clear that the Pre is up for grabs, we can't imagine they'll be too many takers for the older models. It’s also not entirely clear whether or not reviews get to keep the device after six months. If Palm is smart, they’ll ask for the phones back. Those who were happy with the phone will be more than willing to purchase one after six months of using it.
*There’s also a couple of mentions of Twitter in there. We know that’s a deal breaker for a lot of you so we figured we’d break it to you gently before you got all excited about getting a free Pre.
Application form can be found here.

Hey this is just like that "best job in the world" with the gig in the Great Barrier Reef. Except maybe for that you don't have to Twitter.
Just signed up. Maybe I'll get one. Kinda exciting.
Must. Resist. Twitter.
Any word on which countries will this be available in?
Man I hate Twitter.
