Palm Sued Over PDF Viewer in the Pre
Palm is facing a copyright lawsuit because of the PDF viewer on the company's first WebOS device, the Palm Pre.
PC World reports that Artifex Software is accusing Palm of copying its Artifex's PDF rendering engine, called muPDF, and integrating it into the Palm Pre's PDF viewer application without the proper licensing conditions.
Citing the company's licensing terms and a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, PC World reports that Artifex requires an entire application to be licensed under the GNU General Public License if muPDF is part of the app. If it's not licensed under the GNU GPL, Artifex requires a commercial license in order to use muPDF.
Palm claims muPDF has been licensed under the GNU GPL.

Not precisely related to this article, but I think it would hbe interesting that Tom's release a chart in which we can see all those tech related lawsuits. Date, company accused, company suing, verdict, amount asked, amount paid, and so on. I like stats and numbers!

I have a Pre, and the funny part is the PDF viewer is crap. It only works 1/2 the time.
