The new dual-screen Lenovo Thinkpad W700ds mobile workstation made an appearance at CES 2009.

Last month Lenovo launched its new Thinkpad W700ds mobile workstation, which is equipped with a large 17-inch WUXGA main display and a unique secondary 10.6-inch WXGA display that can slide in or out. We were able to get our first look at the new mobile workstation at CES 2009 this week and one of our first impressions of the system is that it is big.

Looking from the side, just how thick the W700ds is becomes apparent, which measures 2.06-inches in thickness. Compared to the plain Thinkpad W700 mobile workstation, which lacks the secondary display, it would seem the addition of the secondary display increased the total thickness of the system by about 0.43-inches.

The Thinkpad W700ds also comes with a built-in Wacom tablet, which is a useful feature for those who would use the notebook for such tasks as editing photographs on-site. Other system specifications include an Intel Core 2 processor, Nvidia Quadro graphics technology, RAID high-speed storage, integrated color calibration, Intel Centrino 2 technologies, DDR3 memory, Displayport and an integrated camera. The Thinkpad W700ds weighs around 11-pounds, has a price starting at $3,663 and is now available from lenovo.com.
