An Illustration of the 500 Worst Passwords
Image of the Week -- Gateway, blowme and zxcvbn are not secure passwords. Here are 497 other passwords you should probably avoid.
At one point or another we've all had a lame password that we used just because it was easy to remember. Sure, "boobies" or "password" might be easier to remember than "hh67g_omi_jja" or something else similarly cryptic, but you're definitely putting yourself at risk with such a weak password.
To help us remember which passwords we should stay away from, artist Kate Bingaman-Burt has illustrated 500 of the worst ones. Taken from Perfect Password: Selection, Protection, Authentication by Mark Burnett, the following poster (via laughingsquid) would probably be useful in school computer rooms, even if it does contain some naughty words.

+1
I guess with all the keyboards these days hand writing is fast becoming an art - an ancient art.
I don't see why something like |||||||| is unsecure? Are these supposed to be passwords people can guess or passwords that can be cracked?
That's not the worst! I use 123456 as my password! Uh-oh! Crap now I need a new.
Haha funny ones... dirty ones too...
blowme? booger? whatever? 6969? hentai? letmein?
never thought of these before:
zxcvbn
qazwsx
how are these considered worst:
abgrtyui (ok so no letter or special chars... but still...)
rush2112 (combination of letter and number...)
Anyone using any of those passwords deserves to have their account hacked!

There's more in this world then the English language: try picking an easy to remember word in a foreign language (a word that doesn't exist in English of course).
my password isnt up there and its really easy for me to remember, yay im the smartest person on the planet, unless, my password is so dumb that even the dummest people think it would be stupid to use my password :>
what...no Bosco
lol. i always love a good seinfeld referance.
@xaira: is your password... xaira? xaira123?

Mine is easy too.
The best part about this is calling it ART!
I talked to a real hacker... He was hacking and stealing steam accounts and changing the password (basically stealing your games). He said he just tried the password "matrix" on user accounts until he found one that used it for a password. Then he would sell the accounts.
Lessen to be learned: DO NOT USE A WEAK PASSWORD ON YOUR STEAM ACCOUNT!!
I have a thought. Statistically speaking, the chances of 1,2,3,4,5 & 6 appearing in a 6 ball lottery is exactly the same as any other combination. Since most systems lockout after 3 or more attempts, as long as your password, isn't "password", isn't a combination such as "asdfgh" just as likely as any other countless random combination? Besides this list 500 so called stupid password - by that same logic I could think up 500 more, like mom, dad, tom, lucky and countless other swear words.
My point is as long as you balance the risk and what you stand to lose against it being easy to remember, then do we need to be so elitist/anal about passwords? Do we all need to get the strong random ASCII upper lower case password generator just to setup your password to say Facebook?
I always use for passwords misspelled words
so no dictionary attack can hack my passwords

Well they couldn't remember their password for their PC, I bet its not on the list.
******** no one ever expects all Astrix!!
Anyone who uses the password "Joshua" must work for the defense department. "Care to play a game" anyone?
I once worked for a web development company that, I shit you not, had a password of "letmein123" on their webserver.
mine is ********
6969? Sounds like 80% of the screen names on yahoo messenger.
I just make up a way to translate a mixture of phone numbers I have memorized into letters and other numbers.
Its easy to remember and very secure, and i can come up with loads of them for my different accounts.
President Skroob: Did it work? Where's the king?
Dark Helmet: It worked, sir. We have the combination.
President Skroob: Great. Now we can take every last breath of fresh air from Planet Druidia. What's the combination?
Colonel Sandurz: 1-2-3-4-5
President Skroob: 1-2-3-4-5?
Colonel Sandurz: Yes!
President Skroob: That's amazing. I've got the same combination on my luggage.
Dark Helmet, Colonel Sandurz: [looks at each other]
1, 2, 3, 4, 5? That's amazing! I've got the same combination on my luggage!
12345! That's amazing i have the same combination on my luggage!
I just read this list to my fiancé, she found it rather funny XD
