With a little over six weeks having passed since its launch, the fuss about Google+ has died down. Google today shook things up again with the introduction of games.
When Google+ launched on June 28, early adopters praised the minimalist, clutter-free feel of the UI. Several people in my circles mentioned the lack of games specifically. Well, today Google filled that void. The company has added games to its brand new social network.
Yesterday afternoon, Vic Gundotra, Senior Vice President of Engineering at Google, announced that the search giant would be gradually roll out games in Google+. Gundotra explained that Games will not be in your face, bothering you when you're not interesting in playing.
"When you’re ready to play, the Games page is waiting—click the games button at the top of your stream," he wrote on the Google blog. "You can see the latest game updates from your circles, browse the invites you’ve received and check out games that people you know have played recently," he continued, adding that if you don't want to play games at all, you can just ignore it completely: "If you’re not interested in games, it’s easy to ignore them. Your stream will remain focused on conversations with the people you care about."
Some of the games you'll be able to play via Google+ are Angry Birds, Bejeweled Blitz and Dragon Age Legends. If the Games tab is available to you, you should see it along with the 'home,' 'profile,' 'photos,' and 'circles' tabs at the top of the G+ homepage. Let us know what you think!

And Google+ begins its early decline back into Facebook territory.
Just when you think Google+ is going to be a more "adult" offering.......
i dont use it anymore. no one does
F###!
Had to happen....
Who cares. It is not in your face like FB, that is the point here, give all the crap you want to Google +, just allow those that want to keep it clean and use it how we want, an option. They did do that.
F###!
and who are you exactly, the centre of the universe? if you've stopped using it does that mean nobody else around you will ever use it again?
I for one think that Google's decision to not allow everyone to join from the beginning was stupid, as people already have a choice in FB.

Do you even realize Google+ is in a testing phase? Going public while it is unfinished and with bugs would have been stupid.
Some people just need something to complain about. They complain Google+ isn't yet public, yet if they had gone public without games and bugs fixed they'd be complaining about that.
I think it's nice that they added games in such a way that it doesn't clutter and ruin the experience. I only recently got an invite and so far am loving it. Also I played Angry Birds for the first time there, since I don't own a smartphone.

You mean just like facebook then.....

I'm not into either site, but I see it slightly differently.
There are highly willing early adopters. They will mostly be the ones driving people to G+. Their motivation will likely peak early on. The "shiny new" view of G+ will fade, and if that happens before G+ is public, making G+ a success will be far harder.
I don't think there's much that couldn't have been tested without masses of public participation, although public testers are cheapest. Stress tests can be automated. Quality intelligent testers can find most bugs.
Is google sponsoring anonymous to bring down facebook?

You can't automate 20 million accounts of user activity, and I'm not aware of any testers that could possibly simulate the tests needed to fully stress something as massive as a completely new social networking site. Google plus's popularity, despite being in just a testing phase, is proof they are doing things the right way so far. If they weren't doing things the right way it would be as popular as Google Wave. That's not to say they couldn't do better, but testing is always a requirement of any massive project. I'm sure their engineers aren't getting a lot of sleep right now!
All game related crap stays in its designated section of G+. Not only that but I can ignore all the annoying people this section will bring by putting them in the correct circle and muting it (or mute them individually.)
I think they did a good job with the games section; I just hope G+ catches on with the mass public.
G+ is screwed
L
who wants to bet farmville and mafia wars will be on Google+ pretty soon
Diamond Dash? The lettuce in my farm just wilted a little.
Farmville+ and Mafia Wars+ ...
I just like when someone mentiones the ability to mute someone ( FB or G+ ). What is the point to have such "friend" in list?
It is like inviting those people to your party and ordering them to be absolutely silent and stay out of your sight.
I don't see Google+ over taking Facebook...not hardly. I have both, and Facebook is a lot more user friendly for the average mom and pop who aren't computer literate. And the idea of invite only for a social network is retarded imo...beta or no beta. Google has flopped before with Orkut,, and this will be no different. I like a lot of google products, but this one isn't going to be a winner imo.
+1 Why_me
Except for one thing, I don't use any Google product or even FB for that matter
Also why would an FB user would want to go to G+ and loose all their friends. I don't see G+ going any further then the previous efforts.
