Garmin Delays Nuvifone To H1 2009
Garmin had bad news today for all those who have been waiting for the company’s GPS-focused touchscreen smartphone called "nuvifone". Originally scheduled for a Q3 2008 release the phone has now been pushed back for a H1 2009 release. That leaves Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X1 as the only highly anticipated iPhone competitor that is still scheduled for a (Q4) 2008
introduction.
Overall, Garmin slashed its profit and revenue forecasts for 2008 due to slower growth in the personal navigation devices (PND) market. The company now predicts earnings of $4.13 a share on revenue of $3.9 billion. It previously expected profit of more than $4.40 a share on revenue of more than $4.5 billion.
