Original Darth Vader Costume is Up for Auction
Checkbooks at the ready, lads.
Are you the ultimate Star Wars fan? Then you'll obviously have no problem dropping oodles of money on a Darth Vader costume from the Empire Strikes Back. After all, what's a quarter of a million dollars to retain your title as the ultimate fan?
Next month Christie's in London is hosting an auction of pop culture memorabilia and among the items up for grabs is an original Darth Vader costume from the Empire Strikes Back. According to Born Rich, it's expected to sell for between £160,000 and £230,000 ($250,000 and $365,000).
"Darth Vader is defined by his costume, which has made him one of the most recognised characters from the history of film," Neil Roberts, head of the popular culture department at Christie's, said. Roberts added that of all the pop culture relics Christie's has sold, from Dorothy's red slippers to Audrey's Breakfast at Tiffany's dress, the Darth Vader costume is the most iconic of all.
The costume, from an unnamed private collector in the United States, will be auctioned on November 25 and a percentage of the proceeds will go to Cancer Research in the UK.
Check out Born Rich for a full gallery of photos of the costume.

Hahahaha, some people may think they have a chance at getting this masterpeice, I am here to destroy those chances as that will soon be mine...
Hey, having two Death Stars blown up isn't cheap. Anakin is simply trying to scrape up some cash to cover some loans.
WANT
WANT

You do know though that whoever buys this will probably want to try it on, and not fit
Wait... what?
Ahem... Costume? No no no newbie, its suit.
Trust me.
$300,000? Is that it? You'd think it'd be worth twice as much at least considering the amount of fans.
~This isn't the Darth Vader costume you are looking for...go about your business.~
So when can I buy a death star?
Can I rob a bank with it?

alright lets all kick in 10000 bucks and we can pick which weeks we want it at our house
I find your lack of credit disturbing...
I would wear this...everywhere.
So when can I buy a death star?

Kids: ARRRRGGGGGHHHHH WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!?!?!?!?!?!
You: I am your father
Heh heh. More win if you have a son named Luke.
I bet itll actually go for millions. I'm sure there are some die hard fans that would pay a fortune for the actual original costume.
The economy is bad for everyone it seems. Now the Empire is trying to get back in the black. What with a war, two failed real estate ventures (Death Stars), and the loss of that luxury space yacht the Executioner, along with the failed Stormtrooper uniform, come on they could not all be that bad of a shot it had to be the uniforms, the Empire most cut costs. Here is a little taste of what will be up for auction the next go around. "The Emperor has no clothes.".
I want the "Jaba the Hut Slave Leia" costume....to play with my mistress ofcourse.
#1 she is really cute! (in the picture)
I can see this selling for millions!
I would wear this...everywhere.
LOL! Awesome
Christie's should offer the winner a 1 week assistant who would walk around with a boombox playing the Imperial March song while you wear the suit. Then it should garner more money.
The idea that this will sell for $250k is an inside joke. They know it will blow through that number. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw this go for 7 figures.
This is the Empire Strikes Back costume? Did they use a different one in Return of the Jedi?
I know in A New Hope, parts of the mask were dark brownish, which they fixed in Empire--so this is the better of the two costumes.
My Darth Vader at home has an original X-box top as a chest plate--the only part I bought was the mask and had the find the rest at home.
